I can't remember what season it is, but I felt it went downhill when instead of everyone interacting they all split off to do their own thing, with frequent scenes which did nothing except say "hey these people still exist we haven't forgotten about them they just don't have anything to do right now"

Remember when GoT made the Sand Snakes up to us by giving 2/3 gratuitous ironic deaths at the hands of beloved character Euron while Bad Pussy got to suffer at the hands of Cersei

Season 5 also has Brienne and Pod’s trip to save Sansa in the North, where literally nothing happens since Ramsay kills all the Stark resistance off screen.

my favorite part of the dorne plotline was when jaime tried to rescue/kidnap myrcella in broad daylight in the middle of the castle courtyard and was immediately surrounded by a bunch of guards and then they had the worst fight scene in the whole show because they shot the whole scene in some famous spanish castle that they could only film in for like an hour at a time

Honestly, and this is not a dig on the actor in any way shape or form Ramsey might have been one of the worst characters for me for a while.

Ramsey has so many scenes that don't actually advance any plot or character, just "yup, this guy is still a psychopath"

Lol my mind had blanked all of s3-s4 Ramsay and Theon. An entire season of just random cuts to the Theon torture porn scenes, a finale of going to rescue the poor guy, then one five minute mission next season of "poo poo, gently caress, gently caress, this naked man can dual wield and that's the ironborn plot.

The show in general decided to depict the Ironborn as arrogant, incompetent buffoons, it's really strange. They're supposed to be fantasy vikings, right? Extremely adept sailors whose homeland is unforgivingly harsh and whose entire culture is built around raiding. But they get clowned on every time. Most scenes I can think of with the Ironborn are funny in some way. Shirtless Ramsay fending them off is funny, Theon's speech in Winterfell is funny. Even when Euron is winning and killing off characters we're supposed to like, it's so goddamn silly. He's a cartoon all the time. I think it's just laziness, because Theon personally is an arrogant, insecure paper tiger of a man, but they kind of just extrapolated Theon's poser-ness to the entire Iron Islands.

I like how Ralph Ineson's whole plot was to convince Theon to takeback Winterfell and then as soon as they're surrounded bash Theon's head in and die.

A few seasons in to the show, factions tended to get boiled down to a handful of adjectives and the same uniforms that they wore day in and out. Euron was just two frat boys writing themselves into the show. If Winds ever comes out, I'm most looking forward to the Ironborn landing in Meereen and just clowning on all of the weird armies on stilts and chained together that are sieging the city.

I'm almost done with season four now. I had totally forgotten about the Tale of Orson Lannister, who crushed beetles all day every day, until finally dying after being kicked in the chest by a mule.

Just finished S4. Believe it or not, I managed to watch the first four seasons of this show as they originally aired, while completely avoiding spoilers. Avoided all GoT spoilers for like four years, man. I had bought an SA account a few years before, but had not posted much or read the forums at all. I only knew one person who had read the books back then, and she was careful not to spoil anything. I knew absolutely nothing, Jon Snow. Oberyn’s death was yet another in a long series of shocking moments, for me. I should have seen it coming when he started strutting around Clegane’s prostrate body screaming CONFESS! but I didn’t. Good times!

Season 1-4 (because it was based on what Gurm had actually written) had *consequences*. Oh poo poo, they killed off Ned Stark! But now his loyal bannermen are going to push his son to become King in the North for a number of explicable reasons, and now the Starks will seek vengeance! In later seasons Ellaria kills Doran and then I guess she's in charge because the Daynes and Yronwoods and Velaryons were like "oh cool that makes sense." And Cersei murders the leader of the Tyrells and his beloved children and the pope and all their soldiers in the city go "oh drag dude, best go back home" hosed up!

Superhero level poo poo where people must use a signature weapon for branding reasons rather than shanking motherfuckers by whatever means was most effective. In the same show which in earlier seasons had Bronn remark on the perils of fighting with honor and Jorah demonstrate exactly why making fun of people wearing heavy armour as pussies might result in you not having the last laugh, and then having the Hound spell it out later in case you missed it.
