Hot Diggity! posted:We knew it was coming but bye bye all regulatory authority of federal agencies So the legal theory on this is that because American regulatory agencies didn't exist in 1791, that the executive can't delegate any regulation to agencies and congress is required to vote on every financial, safety, food regulation and environmental regulation from the beginning of time to date? It's great that a religious cult has hijacked a judicial body of 9 people and thus we will try to end 7bn human lives on earth. Delicious stuff.

I need to look at this WV v EPA ruling but I assume that it just kicks the ability to regulate GHGs back to the states. At the same time, anyone who watched each state scramble to implement their own COVID policy, sometimes fighting with each other in the process, should realize the importance of having a strong federal response to handle large-scale crises! Someone remind me of what the endgame is for the GOP killing off the federal government. Are some states just hoping to ban minorities from living there?

No, they want them to live there, just not as free peoples. Also, it's astounding they don't view this as a federal issue since uh, it's not like the actions in terms of climate are constrained to one state.
