Some subreddits/moderators institute a level of filtering on their subs that they moderate, such that accounts that are less than x days old, or accounts that have less than x number of upvotes automatically have their posts removed - essentially the "market" for reddit accounts is to get around such things. Occasionally I'll see an account that only ever posted in /r/nba before, and/or hasn't posted in six months, only to be starting poo poo elsewhere out of the blue, and it's a pretty good indicator that that account has changed hands

And, yes, they do sitewide suspensions based on that.

It's still wild to me that no one ever talks about reddit as the whiny illegal porn place anymore. Like I know it's been over a decade but you'd think the website that had subgroups explicitly dedicated to posting CP, revenge porn, and creepshots and got in trouble (from a PR perspective at least) twice would have some lingering stink from it.

It's been discussed in a few subs, including at least one demonstration of how the block system can be used to manipulate posts to get much higher on small and medium sized subs than it otherwise would. It just hasn't seen a ton of backlash since no admins will acknowledge the issue and the developers are busier with other problems, like how the site's feed & subscribed lists have been broken since Friday or so and continue to intermittently blank out.
