Speaking of chud-mobiles. You can now buy and actually register the SISU GTP armoured truck for civilian use. Yeah it weighs like 10 metric tons and costs like 500k€ but at least your family is very safe going to football practice. https://www.army-technology.com/projects/sisu-gtp-4x4-general-purpose-vehicle/

*watches someone pull out of stop and go traffic into what looks like an HOV lane that's still moving quickly* *Watches them get absolutely pounded in the rear end by a car* You know what I should do now? Pull into this HOV lane slowly, then park! Maybe we can get 4 cars wrecked instead of two!

Reasons why I slow down near stopped traffic, even if I don't "have to". There is an interchange where I live (for you Portland locals, I'm referring to 26 Eastbound going into the tunnel) where the middle lane is often open while the two lanes on either side are stopped. Speed differentials like that sketch me the gently caress out, I am always on full alert and definitely not going the 55mph speed limit.

Sigma posted:https://www.wcax.com/2022/07/22/vt-digital-services-secretary-cited-after-parking-dispute/ The owners of two bigass trucks fighting like children seems to be pretty on-brand. As an aside, after gas prices went up I’ve loved seeing the look of stress on big truck drivers as they try to hypermile their heavy debt load. It’s a beautiful thing to witness, especially knowing the value of their asset is declining rapidly. AITA?

Gah, everyone involved in this is awful: Bicyclist crosses the double-yellow to steer around traffic stopped at a red light, runs right through that red light, and gets slammed by a New Jersey councilwoman who drives off without stopping and doesn't report the crash for six hours. Bicyclist claimed in interviews that he had right of way and is disappointed that a government official would ignore the law, she's refusing calls to resign. He also points out that he looked left and then "was about to look right" when he got hit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZdL8pUu_Bw&t=31s

It would make his case pretty shaky in courts, likely rejected as a 50/50 responsibility share with the vehicle hitting him.

From a sheer self preservation standpoint checking both ways before you run a red light on a bicycle is a really good idea!

She had the green light, idiot cyclist just ran the red light with no awareness of oncoming traffic. By the time you're most of the way through the intersection looking right doesn't do much good, and if she'd just have stopped and waited for the cops she'd have no liability for this at all, even putting aside the fact that New Jersey is a no-fault state.

The real crime is not having cycling paths, forcing vulnerable traffic participants into the space of giant american SUVs. At least in my country, the driver of a potentially lethal vehicle is always at fault in such a situation. You have to take the responsibility that comes with choosing to drive a car.

This. If she hadn't run he would have been completely at fault. Edit: also I would like to note motherfucker was wearing flip-flops running a red light while delivering for uber eats.
