Dwarf Fortress will never feel like Animal Crossing. It will always be highly complicated and brutally difficult, that's the entire point of it. But as for graphics, it currently supports tiles instead of ASCII. And even when it's released on Steam, it's always going to support ASCII as well as tiles.
