33.6 baud modem goon here. My mum used to crack up with me when she couldn't call home for 2 hours because the line was engaged. I don't know what the rest of the world was like but with UK ISPs, you got charged for every minute you spent online and it cost more during peak times. Madness. The speed differences compared to that are incredible, I think it works out that a gigabit connection is something like 27,000 times faster.

How is Civilization Revolution? Been eyeing it on the store sale as a quick pick-up-and-play strategy game for the couch. I've played a fair bit of Civ 3 and Civ 5 in years past but never looked much into this verison.

When you get late game, you have to start addressing needs of every particular city. As it goes from one to another, the game zooms out and then zooms in for every one. By that point most cities are doing what they're always going to do, so you end up switching between them really quickly. Every turn. I remember getting minor motion sickness from that, and I'm not prone to that kind of thing at all.

So heads up, Amazon has digital codes for both soulcalibur 1 and 2. The code for 2 worked as expected, but the code for soul calibur 1 does not work. There are a lot of negative reviews saying the codes don't work and wario64 even follows up this tweet saying the same, but i ignored all of them because i just didnt think a code could not work. Dont make the same mistake i did.

jumped into DJ MAX, and at least the UI of it is seeming a bit impenetrable. is there a way to configure the video/audio delay other than trial and error, starting and quitting songs? cuz F that noise

Anyone else have Bioshock Remastered for Series X and get some weird visual bug? The best way I can describe it is certain textures have this blackish rainbow box drawn around them. Google turns up nothing because there's over a decade of Bioshock bug searches on a half dozen consoles.

Fall Guys is packed with plenty of luck-of-the-draw and physics-y bullshit to even things out a bit. Now and then it becomes obvious when there's a toddler at the helm for some other hapless character, but most of the time it ends up being pretty fun and competitive. Game's pulling in 50 million players. Just bonkers.

it pisses me off that not only does it force you to use an epic account, but literally won’t let you use PSN or Xbox live for invites, matchmaking, parties etc. like, I literally pay to use these services on these platforms and it’s loving wild to me that Microsoft and Sony would even allow the release of a game that blocks them on the manufacturers own console. And epics invite system barely works

Yeah if nothing else the sign up for epic is painless. Actually using their social features is more of mixed bag. But yeah I downloaded that iphone Diablo and couldn't remember my blizzard password so I just deleted the game. Sometimes I'd rather just not play a game if I have to gently caress around with some outside account or launcher.

My Epic free library is ~slowly~ creeping up on my Steam library ... and it's almost as equally un-played. Before buying a game on Steam I need to do double duty to make sure it's not on Gamepass, and that I haven't already gotten it free through Epic.

Well the PSN, Xbox, Switch and Steam friends/party invite systems don't work across platforms though. So they had to invent some way to bypass it and as someone with friends on other platforms I appreciate them figuring out something that works.
