They could also have Estenien be a trust member and then move him into set-piece mode when they reach that fight. Just have to adjust the fight down for only having 1 dos, which seems reasonable to do.

It does the same thing without having to physically take him out of the fight.

No I mean after the adds are killed he activates it. If he is just a normal party member for that phase you still have the gameplay and lore conceit of having to keep him up so that he can put the shield up before the big attack. There's no point or reason to remove him

Turns out when you've tanked Dumb Skates in literally never, and you've got two newbie healers in your party, and the other two tanks don't want to tank, you end up dying a lot to the last couple bosses.

I started this up again after falling off years ago (I think early heavenward?) Playing on a free trial on a "road to 80" server cause I'm pretty broke recently and idk how long I'll stay interested. I just got to the end of the regular ARR, started as a monk which I actually loved but found really stressful with a lot to remember/do properly in some group content. Since that was already mid 50s when the main quest was mid 30s I caught up a summoner which I like, maybe not love, but really enjoy how simple and stress free it is to do everything "right." They're now both over capped for MSQ. Any suggestions on a f2p class I might enjoy as a happy middle ground to try next? I don't remember/know any of the dungeons well enough to want to go tank right now

Well smn is definitly the simplest class and I think monk is one of the more complex ones. Maybe give archer/bard a try? It's got a few plates to spin between dots, songs, and procs, but it also doesn't have any positionals or cast times to worry about either.

i'm officially switched over to a sch main because it's so fun and interesting. basically i run smn for dps on all the solo bullshit parts and then switch to sch when i gotta group for a dungeon and its gotta count. im having tremendous fun doing so.

SMN gets you dps with a raise, basically no cast times when it's high enough, a healer leveled alongside for free, dragon lasers!, and a green doton for tanks to pull packs out of. Basically it's the best

Healers in general are a blast once you get into a comfortable rhythm of switching between DPS and healing. You might want to give SGE a try as well at some point, as it plays similarly to SCH but with some flashier tools like a big ol' AoE button.
