Wullie's reign cannae smother the flames o' equality!
Hey fun fact do you want to know why a lot of decision making people believe central bank independence is a good thing and why the ECB was made probably the most independent central bank in the world?

A paper by Alesino & Summers (1993) demonstrated that central bank independence led to lower inflation. The explanation being that if politicians were in control they'd be tempted to create more (too much) money to basically bribe the voters (as always liberals see politicians delivering material benefits to their constituents as cheating), whereas technocratic bankers have no such temptations.

Except the paper was later shown to have had the data manipulated to support the intended outcome. Also, yes, it was co-authored by *THAT* Larry Summers, fresh off of his destruction of Lithuania.

Meanwhile the Chinese central bank is not independent.

Oh also one of the first papers cited by Alesino & Summers is Rogoff (1985). The same Rogoff who later co-authored Reinhart & Rogoff, which "proved" austerity was the answer as government debt would crush economic growth. Except oops their excel formulas contained errors causing some of the data to be excluded leading to the wrong conclusion.

All these important studies which have shaped pur world just happen to have errors in them causing the data to be interpreted significantly wrong in favor of neoliberal orthodoxy. Just a coincidence and no reason to crack-ping I am sure.

what exactly are you defining as good chinese cinema and good american stuff because if were talking about blockbusters im really not seeing how you can argue with a straight face that this green screen marvel superhero bullshit is more technically proficient than a chinese war movie

cinema is larger than just blockbusters lmao

but for blockbusters yes American cinema does in fact poo poo all over the technical ability of the Chinese stuff (again, for now). not sure why this is controversial, America’s had a massive head start on this stuff which is exactly what the Chinese gov is trying to address lol

This all goes back to US government tried to create state central bank a couple times and failed, and the bankers grouped up and made their """central bank""" and started to use their printed bank note to create the myth of the benefit of independent central bank.

Funny thing the country that ate up this narrative the most was the Japanese, look how their independent central bank got them.

Younger Taiwanese has a very fast rate of adopting Mandarin as their first language, probably will go all Mandarin in 2 generations. This goes to my argument that Taiwan is actually not leaving "China" culturally, even with a ruling DPP government that always scheming anti-China antics and pushing "dual language" education. IMO Taiwan still has a long way away from HK style of indigenous culture.
