Glad the Devils are doing the obvious and trading Zacha. I'm pumped about what they do. I'm not really feeling the Vanecek deal but they have so much money to spend on the forwards. I'm pretty sure they'll throw money at Gaudreau.

Friedman on the 32 thoughts podcast said it sounds like Murray to Toronto is close to happening, and that Toronto is going through the medicals and possibly trying to find a third team. Seravelli is saying that Kane's camp sees him getting 40-50 million total and the Oilers won't go longterm so good luck with that uhhhh Nasvhille?

Sooo my recollection is that the claim was that there was a woman who Evander Kane had impregnated in the past (out of wedlock) and had paid a large sum of money (in the hundreds of thousands of dollars range) to have an abortion and to keep quiet about the matter. Apparently this happened two or three times, but the last time Kane welched on paying her (possibly because he lost all his money to gambling, who knows) after she had the abortion. Evander Kane seems like a bad dude, and I remember being pissed off at Dustin Byfuglien for reportedly being an rear end in a top hat and bullying Kane when they were in Winnipeg but now I've been fully brought around to thinking that Byfuglien is actually the best.

When you add in stuff like Debrusk rescinding his trade request (which had been out there for over a year) less than a month after Cassidy was let go, it really does seem like he just lost the room due to being a hardass.

The goalie market kinda sucks. Toronto seemed like a good destination for Kuemper since he just won the cup, not sure why they would be going for Matt Murray instead (unless they are going for both of them?) Edit: gonna die laughing if Kuemper somehow ends up in Buffalo. It’d probably be a good long-term move for the Sabres but maybe not for Kuemper unless he dreams of taking a young Finnish goalie under his wing.

It’s pretty similar to why they acquired Campbell, find someone who played under Dubas in the Soo who had a good reputation then fell on hard times and assume they’ll magically become their best self once they put on a Leafs jersey. Dubas is betting that he’s got better chances of Cup-era Matt Murray returning than one of Campbell or Kuemper being worth their contracts, and everyone who thought Murray was washed will look dumb.
