I have no idea how the Rangers could sign Malkin without offloading someone else but it does seem likely they'll either buy out Nemeth or pawn him off on another team but realistically that means they could offer like...a 2 year deal

Marketing value might make Malkin worth the 5 year/$35 million contract he's going to get but he's not worth it on the ice anymore. He scores nearly a point per game and also allows nearly a point per game by not playing any defense at all. Still so good and dangerous with the puck but if he plays for your team you're probably going to end up hating him. All that said I really wanted him to be a Penguin forever and am sad that he and Sully couldn't get along.
