Suzuki never gets them: I assume because he’s a New Japan guy and they have basically never done them. Reportedly Stardom aren’t bringing them back which would be a massive shame: always think they add something. Faff to clean up though so I get why the promotions might not want the hassle

I have to say, at SSP '22 last night, after the show ended, I saw three guys carrying huge garbage bags full of streamer remnants. Even during the show, the TJPW women at ringside were having a difficult time stuffing all of it underneath the ring because there was so much of it. I thought it was worth it but I was not one of those staff hauling it out!

The company has to throw away several giant bags of streamers each show and they’re the one responsible, not the venues, so it makes life a lot easier for them.

It also feels like it doesn’t scale that well: if you are running Shinkiba and it’s 300 people then it’s more manageable but if you are doing 5,000 in Sumo Hall (which Stardom may well do in the next few years) then there’s more streamers to get rid of; especially including the ones that don’t make it to the ring. I know that NOAH went to no steamers except on Korakuen shows and I think that could be a good compromise if you wanted to keep the tradition going.

Just watched the Tam Natsupoi cage match and boy did the rules drag it down. There were some great moments but you needed to get a pinfall before being allowed to try and climb out. Which was just bad, because you end up with a lot of 3 counts that would never be 3 counts and that really distracted me. Shame, still a good match but let's never do that stip again
