My wife and I have had the Pixel 3 since they came out and other than replacing the batteries which wasn't particularly difficult I haven't had any problems. I'd put lineage os on mine and keep going if we hadn't gotten them from Verizon with locked bootloaders.

Trying to keep on topic. Here’s Matt levine’s story on three arrows founders refusing to cooperate with their liquidators and also telling them via tweet that they can hold value in the liquidation by buying another cryptocurrency. Just the worst of the worst.

quote:

Representatives tapped to liquidate Three Arrows by a British Virgin Islands judge had “not yet received any meaningful cooperation” from Kyle Davies and Zhu Su, lawyers said in US bankruptcy court filings. Advisory firm Teneo is attempting to round up and preserve the assets of the hedge fund. …

The liquidators spoke with lawyers for Davies and Zhu via videoconference last week, according to court papers, but did not speak to the founders directly.

“While persons identifying themselves as “Su Zhu” and “Kyle” were present on the Zoom call, their video was turned off and they were on mute at all times with neither of them speaking despite questions being posed to them directly,” Teneo’s Crumpler said in his court declaration.

Zhu responded by tweeting about this from an undisclosed location and, incredibly, telling the liquidators that to preserve value at Three Arrows they need to make sure to buy another crypto token called StarkWare. Just absolutely legendary behavior. It’s all a misunderstanding, see, everything will be fixed if you put some more money into this crypto token, trust me, have I ever steered you wrong before?

Bitcoin hasn't been profitable on GPUs for many years. It's the whole reason Ethereum exists. I figure you're just talking about cryptocurrency in general though.

Dr. Video Games 0031

Mining profitability is based on how many other people are mining anyway, so it will continue to happen no matter how these cryptocurrencies cost--it's just a matter of how much mining they can support at any given price. If Ethereum dropped down to $500 and stayed there, you'd see over half the current miners give up most likely, but there'd still be too much miner demand for new cards to my taste.

Got a Pixel 5a with their $9-a-month 2-year subscription (so, $216), and so far I've had zero complaints, though my needs are very simple. They'll send me a 7a once that comes out apparently, but I may just cancel the subscription at that point and keep the 5a for another couple years. I had a Pixel 2 for four years before the 5a and I liked that too, even if I was struggling with a rapidly dying battery by the end. I would've just replaced the battery and kept that phone going if i had more confidence in smartphone repairs. (especially since the 5a isn't really that much more capable)

So... I have a theory, which is what if we do the technical poo poo and double bottom (lowest price hit twice) where we did last cycle? Where BTC bottomed at $4k? Or maybe bring it down to $2k, where celsius and probably Saylor will also liquidate? Either way would work.

Also, the exchanges are corrupt and can absolutely jigger the timing of your trades so you take the losses. I am in fact quite sure they have positioned themselves to take the other end of that particular churn. If they haven't, they're not just greedy, they're stupid.

Just commenting on how fake the bitcoin price and market are. It's like finding a casino where a roulette wheel is going red number, black number in the same repeating pattern for a month already and wondering why not just make lots of money? (It's because you won't walk out of the casino like that with your winnings is why the wheel can keep doing that).

LOL. So if I had $100k, I could buy 5 coins at $19k and set my take profit at $20.1k (to be safe), for a whopping $5.5k profit with only a $100k risk if the exchange shutters and stops all withdrawals. 20-to-1 risk-to-reward ratio. Beautiful odds.

You'd be much better off just betting $500 on deeply OTM options like Wallstreet Bets were doing before GME turned the entire thing into a cult.

The Pixel 3 and 4 onward were really bad at times. It was the "Let's do ten cool features, then gently caress up something so basic it renders the phone a nightmare". My Pixel 4 nightmare is that the glue holding the back wore out and the entire backplate of the phone fell off. I finally gave up and got an S21 Ultra, which served me well, not least of which because the cameras are actually pretty nice. Not "completely replace my Micro 4/3" nice, but nice enough that I don't worry about bringing it as much.

I'm a lovable meme.

My personal phone is a OnePlus. I'm a sucker for OnePlus because they are the most bang for bucks in terms of raw processing power.

Work makes us use a Samsung A52 and the experience is kind of nicer there. Sometimes my OnePlus has the odd jank that the Samsung never has. Camera is nicer. Screen, too. But maybe it would also feel bankier if I had a million apps and connected devices running on the Samsung.

Anyhow that's my smartphone chat contribution. Don't buy flagships they're dumb.
