I’ve rented places in the city that had the original top hung sliding fire doors because they didn’t want to drag them out of the building. installing new ones from overstock is always a dumb look though.

Barn doors are a favorite of flippers/rehabbers because they’re inexpensive/easy to install, make a big visual impact, allow you to enclose openings that were otherwise large for a door, and were (until recently) uncommon. Now they’re cliche

in more relevant news I spent 12 hours in the car with my moms boomer friend while riding to visit family. I got to hear about how she really “pulled out all the stops” to sue a developer and derail their plans for a new housing development in their neighborhood. by the way her and her husband work in production at a factory and she bought her house for 200k in 1999 and now it’s worth 600k.

My house has barn door flooring. We took some antique barn doors and converted them into a more rustic/natural looking hardwood floor. It sucks when you stub your toe on a hinge but it looks great.
