There have to be a few Aeris out there with very angry parents when they fixed her official english name.

I heard a mother calling out the name to her child when I was working at a grocery store as a teen, but only hearing it out loud, I don't know if she was saying Aeris, Eris, or Heiress.

Why the hell does Shaun White have a skateboarding game when 1) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater already exists, and 2) Shaun White is much more famous/acclaimed for snowboarding anyway? :psyduck:

because they already made a Shaun White snowboarding game and they weren't making any more Tony Hawk games by that point so there was an opening in the market

Met a woman whose son, Blade, is at least a decade too old to've been named after the film character, and his parents definitely don't seem like comic book readers.

I went to school with a kid named Blade long before the movies came out.

His twin brother's name was Slade.

Someone at work swears blind that she overheard this conversation at a café:

Man 1: So what did you end up naming the baby?
Man 2: Lolita. After a character in a book.
Man 1: ... The paedo book ?
Man 2: No. It's a book Lana Del Rey quotes in one of her songs.
Man 1: ... Yeah, the paedo book.

The worst part is that the character in the book isn't even CALLED Lolita. Humbert Humbert calls her that. Her actual name was Dolores.

A woman in a shop calling after her child, Saudi (no idea of the spelling).

Aurore, pronounced like "aura."
- Like, the police from Harry Potter ?
- No, it means sunset. It's French.

That's... not immediately obvious, given the variability of English pronunciation. I have no idea how you pronounce "aura" around your neck of the woods.

At least the kid had a regular name, even if her parent couldn't pronounce it.
