Another nod to this connection is that Raubahn's sword in XIV is a high level BLU sword in XI (though not the sword that XI Raubahn carries).

Pince-nez are the only glasses that don't require magic (or tape) on Miqo'te or Viera too

How do the glasses stay on the face???

They hug tightly against the side of the head and the nose pinches just like a traditional pince-nez.

My solution is "have a hairstyle where the arms are clearly attached to the hair, and this is fine because those braids are like an inch wide", personally. :v:

I think if they actually made glasses specifically for mi'qo/viera, though, they'd be pince-nez or just prescription goggles.

Triumph is good, it's every other instance of the Reach and Kugane leitmotifs that start to wear after a while.

Honestly I found the daytime Kugane theme kinda distracting for a bit, with the quivering flutes (or whatever the effect is called.) Of course a lot of the base city themes (Limsa Lominsa esp.) also go similarly ham but it was like “Guys I’m just trying to do a jumping puzzle here.”

yeah, one of the most welcome changes come Shadowbringers is that they deliberately spread the leitmotifs out a little more; Stormblood has a great theme, but you are going to be hearing the same riffs on it for a very long time

Yeah, it kinda made me sick of that tune after a while. The HW one is all over the place too, but it's less noticeable for whatever reason.

I mean, I do feel like HW also pulls from more varied leitmotifs than SB for whatever reason. You have the trailer song Heavensward that has various distinct parts to it that get used in different melodies throughout the expac, and then there’s also Dragonsong which is used as a leitmotif in its own right. But ultimately there’s more musical spread to both songs in terms of what portions get worked into different leitmotifs, whereas the specific STORM OF BLOOD BORN OF BLOOD OF OUR FALLEN BROTHERS part of the trailer song and The Measure of Our Reach end up doing pretty much all the heavy lifting in Stormblood. Which is weird because there’s yet another song they could draw from, but I think it’s only used for one specific cutscene track?

It might just be that Looping in the Deepest Fringes and Triumph really get that refrain hammered in, but Soken's pretty consistent with the motifs - Reach was most prominent in Rhalgr's Reach and Storm of Blood has only really come up in Kugane outside of combat so far. Triumph has a blend of both songs. I like Looping more than Melt but it probably could have worked without the motif in it, too.

I can deal with the far east theme because there's enough to it to have different versions. The Kugane music is the kind of big sweeping piece that IMO Soken is good at (certainly more than the Uematsu remixes he tries.) I just can't deal with the Ala Migho music because it sounds just close enough to a number of real-world national anthems that everytime I hear it I have to have that "I Can't Believe It's Not Canaustralia" moment.
