On July 7th we had an incident on our discord server that involved kicking a person that at the time was just super annoying on discord. Later that night he was mouthing off to people in the fleet to the point where the FC kicked him, he later made a call-out thread in hell dump, saying we had Bully'd him out of the game, and told him to commit suicide, this is totally false everyone in fleet said no one wishes him any harm; they just wanted him to correct his behavior. At this time, after being berated and insulted by him, Mcwolf made a counter-call-out thread that showed how creepy he had been to her in PMs, I will spare you the details, but it was bad, really bad. This part is important. On July 7th this offender was kicked.

July 8th, I spend the day writing the report cryo is going to present to ilum. I talk with a bunch of people from inside and outside the imperium and I feel vindicated in my belief that changes need to be made. July 9, Saturday morning the last 18 hours of the imperium as we knew it. A mid-day cryo messages me saying he presented our report to ilum and it was received well.


July 9, 6 pm, we are informed that MC Wolf was kicked and black-listed from the imperium. I am personally livid that I spent 24 writing a report on harassment only for them to kick one of the people testifying in the report. My last two sentences to the higher-ups are "If you shake this tree, you will not be able to control what falls out" and "By doing this you are going to start a nuclear meltdown is that is going to chain-react uncontrollably"


July 9th FNLN goes nuclear he holds 680 billion of member isk hostage. I joined KF less than a year ago after leaving the north because there was some racism creeping into my corp (and I was tired of getting stomped by FRT). KF seemed like the friendliest choice, and I wanted to be on the winning side of my my favorite spaceship game for a change even if it meant being hated - and one of my friends is a SA goon (who barely plays), so why not.

I tried to give people the benefit of the doubt and not make waves because I'm a loving coward who's terrified of conflict (due to the last 6-7 years of RL poo poo) and strives for harmony above all else, so most of the time I just sat in discomfort as people on comms edged their way toward politics and gender and almost literal alt-right poo poo at times, to the point where in the last month most of the time I'd just pop afk as soon as certain people started speaking (now I'm just permanently in the afk sections while I pack).

I didn't make any friends in KF, it's the most severely alone-in-a-crowd I've ever felt since joining the military.

A few times I'd be encouraged to keep going: I specifically remember, not the 'joke' from some misogynist, but the way one Siobhan MacLeary absolutely shredded him in fleet comms. And it gave me hope every now and then when someone spoke out against bullshit like that in fleet comms or jabber, and I'd think "maybe this alliance isn't so bad if it has people like this in it."

I was in xenuria's SIG, Trigoonians, before this giant shitstorm kicked off, along with a handful of other people who barely ever saw or talked to each other; the SIG no longer exists, at least not where I can see it or apply to it. I shot POCOs and other poo poo with him in Pochven. I was privately in comms with him. No one ever warned me about anything, no one was like "hey maybe you should stay away from that dude", nothing. Not a word before - or since. No one's contacted me with a "hey are you/is everything okay" which you'd think would be a normal human response but I suppose that would be admitting there was an actual problem with someone you apparently banned by one of the corp directors getting out of bed at 2am their time to take him out.

Nothing significant happened, but I'm still not okay about being that close to a known atrocity who had his own little operational playground because alliance leadership didn't just shelter him, they ACTIVELY USED HIM AS A TOOL FOR VIDEO GAME CONQUEST and there are no words for how loving gross that mindset is to me.

I've stopped expecting any decency from KF (certainly from GSF) no matter how shiny a public face they put on it. I hoped for a few days that things would change, but looking at the horrific echo chamber that the GF.com forums and in large part the KF discord has become, I can't justify staying here for any longer than it takes to exfil without locking myself out of options.

But in what to me feels like a sheer twist of cosmic irony I've seen more basic human decency out of this forum in the past week than I ever would've expected, despite what I've always been told about SA. And it's due to you all and your screaming and shouting and shoving loving receipts in people's faces and not just rolling over when challenged - all of that - that I can get the hell out of this flaming dumpster and find somewhere better, because without you I would have just sat here being acceptably miserable until the game died.

tl;dr
You all are my Actual loving Heroes and I'd rather play spaceships with people who have a conscience even when it doesn't directly benefit them.

The "we wouldn't have a problem if linemembers weren't such bad people" argument falls flat when Mittani (and others) were shown to be raging shitlords for 10+ years and completely misses the point that leadership should be airlocking toxic people both at line and leadership levels/.

Lastly, the fireside that I heard (with I am guessing was theadj speaking) kind of reinforced the entire small change theory. And the removal of SA entanglements statements seemed directly aimed at smacking down those that spoke up about the abusive behavior. Interesting that leadership felt like that was a critical problem that needed to be addressed immediately.

I had entertained a return after things calmed down for a bit, but I think my interest in EVE will be reduced to evaluating this entire episode as a case study of what happens when leadership makes continuous bad choices akin to repeatedly punching themselves in the junk.
