God yes, this shits me. How hard is it to go "Hello [your name], I need to ask you a quick question. The interocitor is blah blah, etc"

You get your polite hello for those who absolutely must and you state your question all in one message.

I've switched with my parents to start like "hey, is this an emergency?" and if not, "what can I do for you?"

If it's just "oh, just wanted to talk." Cool, we can go from there if I'm not busy.

But lets establish loving priorities first. Do I need to get my med gear? Get the truck running? What sort of clothes do I need? Do I need a loving PFD? Is everyone breathing? Do I need to make a 911 call? Has anyone done that yet if needed?

Every boomer call is either "mom is dead" or "do you wanna play golf?".

Stop abusing the phones you old fucks.

I don't get angry at my mom for just wanting to talk to me, but she absolutely loves to do the whole switcheroo where she texts me something like "we need 2 talk. IMPORTANT FAMILY ISSUES!!" then when I call her up she spends 20 minutes telling me about how her friend Sharon's daughter had a birthday party but the cake was wrong but it was still an okay party and also I should get in touch with Sharon's neighbor's cousin who is about my age and also knows things about computers so we'd probably become best friends.

The worst part is that there usually actually is some important bit of information that she needs to tell me, she's just holding it hostage to keep me on the line to tell me about a bunch of people I'll never meet.

On this note, people who have no boundaries for calling you. My dad and a few other boomer family members in town will straight up call me up at 6am because that's when they're already up and at 'em and want to chat about something. Motherfuckers, I work nights do not call me before 9am at the earliest unless someone's dead.
Whoever invented the do not disturb function for cell phones deserves more money than Bezos and to get blowjobs three times every day. I've never slept so good since my phone got that feature. Yes I know I could have turned it off but then I'd need an actual alarm clock like a caveman.
Then they have the audacity to get pissed at me for not always being available to chat, like motherfuckers, respect other people's time and simple, basic boundaries.

I judge people who expect others to always be available be it family or bosses or work or whatever. gently caress 'em.

Don't loving phone me out of the blue unless I expect it or something/you is actually on fire. I will respond immediately to an emergency, but if you want to talk about what you cooked for dinner and what aunt Kathy is up to when I'm driving, NO. BAD USE OF PHONE.

I usually assume anyone with aggressively “patriotic” crap on their clothing or trucks, i.e. unnecessarily ragged looking US flags, eagles, skulls, don’t tread on me, are all four of those things you listed, plus racist, and they are doing you a favor by letting you know to avoid them.

Any time I see a Canadian flag flying on a pickup truck now from a hockey stick, I'm like, "great, nazis."

This is usually corroborated with all the other insane bumper stickers.

I don't really give a gently caress about national pride/symbolism but they could have at least not ruined the flag for everyone.

lol yeah it's loving crazy. just over a year ago the canadian flag was an innocuous sight to me. they'd be flown at businesses and government buildings only. now it's like a big giant literal red flag when i see them on someones car/truck/residential property

during the winter there was this thing called the "trucker convoy" where truckers were mad they couldn't cross the border without being vaccinated, it snowballed into a general fascist rally and descended on the capital, where the city and provincial police revealed how compromised by fascists they were when they refused to break it up, and finally trudeau sent in the feds to disperse them (gently and softly). the canadian flag became a tacit show of support for this group during this time

you even had fascists in far away places like nz and aus waving canadian flags at their antivax rallies, which felt really gross as a canadian and the whole episode made me really ashamed of my country

I am a fat lady who has clearly given up, move.

I swear there's one co worker almost everything has to be said twice to her because of this.

It's a shame that chuds have stolen the Canadian flag. Used to be a pretty innocuous sight in Europe. Most times you'd see it, it would be on a backpack from someone making sure no one mistook them as American. And someone desperate not to be sent as American is usually at least halfway decent in my book. Used to be anyway, sigh.
