I saw that ‘meme’ via former Welsh international David Cotterill, who seems to be giving David Icke a run for his money in the ‘batshit ex-footballer’ stakes these days.

2016 was utterly brilliant, and football should have been closed down for good afterwards, because nothing was going to top that.

Shame that prick's doing his best to sully it.

Thank gently caress the rain just got here too. Now I just need this surprisingly well-built 1960s council house to release the heat it's hanging onto

It didn't get that hot, it stayed under 26C. But I'm a wimp who is built for winter.

South-west. It might be more like 8-9 months at this point to be fair, and the strong winds from at the beginning of the year (Feb??) were responsible for most, but there were one or two both before and after then. It's just peculiar to experience 3 or 4 max in London/Kent over 30 years and then get half a dozen concentrated into less than one.

Sounds like the power infrastructure over there might be hosed. Certainly here in Oxbridge I used to get power cuts all the time but as we became a hub for Londoners escaping the bastard house prices of the metropolis our infrastructure mysteriously got way better too.

Or, as I said earlier and eerily prophetically, directed energy women

The thing that always makes me laugh is why does the deep state need loving lasers to start fires? If they control everything I'm sure they could just have a bloke go out with a box of matches.

E: oh also, guavanaut, work has adopted one of those air/water heat pumps you were talking about.

It's the heat exchanger for the refrigeration block, they were overheating so somebody has cable tied a hosepipe to a stepladder and pointed it at the heat exchanger and has been running it all day to keep the freezer working :v:

In practice I'm not sure if this isn't just swapping the risk of the heat exchanger catching fire because it's too hot, with catching fire because of an electrical fault, but hey ho.

I thought it would be something like that. I mean it works, the good new heat pumps use the condense water from the cold bit to cool the radiator on the hot outside bit when they're running in cooling mode, it gets an extra bit of efficiency. But they also don't just hose down the big electric box with the skull and crossbones sticker on it.

I imagine being an external unit all the electricals are on their own platform somewhere off to the (camera) rear so it's not ~that~ terrible right up until it is.

Yeah it didn't have a lightning bolt sign on it but I just thought it was funny. I would hope it was someone who vaguely knew what they were doing who came up with it at least.

They also had to switch off one of the fridge banks presumably to keep the rest running.

It was more "large chunks of party infrastructure would rather be in the minority forever than allow a leftist to succeed."

My one main regret about that article (apart from how loving long it is) is how much of an obnoxious remainer I was.

No, but I thought I knew everything then. Also the article conflates leftist with remainer which, wow, was wrong about and continue to be wrong about, in the same way leftism and progressivism are generally aligned, but then you have your Galloways and Livingstones.

Their lord and saviour came out and literally said it was better to lose than to win with a leftist platform. They absolutely believed it and spent years sabotaging the most popular politician they'd stumbled across since He Himself, committing fraud and throwing slurs at everyone who disagreed with them while systematically persecuting and expelling Jewish labour members for the crime of making it harder to claim their opponents are all antisemites

Yes, more or less. The UK labour party has always had issues between the actual lefties and the managerial "sensible politics" types but blair winning in 97 coincided with him really capturing the apparatus of the party, and also absolutely haemmorhaging votes and creating a whole generation of "they're all the same" types as well as a whole generation of "daddy blair uwu please privatise me" types who are still in the party. Keir Starmer was appointed chief prosecutor under blair so he is in many respects a horrible reventant of that era (though less so than actual lich tony blair perhaps)

So the party institutionally is full of horrible liberals and corbyn basically ran as one of a little crew of lefties who cobble together enough votes to nominate a lefty each time, but because the party had introduced one man one vote leadership elections under milliband, he absolutely wiped the floor with all of the middle manager candidates after milliband's loss in 2015, and the ticks dug into the hide of the party never got over it and spent his entire term trying to sabotage him to prove that leftism cannot work.
