The two shows were on the same timeline. The Jetsons just happened to be in a galaxy far way.

I live near Wrexham, and the local consensus tends to be they're doing it for attention rather than a passion for the game/club/town.

Plus local pubs are always accidentally hinting Ryan Reynolds will visiting them for a players birthday/engagement party, then just milking in the profits. Which is a great idea.

How much attention could they possibly hope to gain from that? Unless they specifically want to carter to the population of Wrexam, I doubt that many people will care about it, who weren't kind of aware of those guys in the first place.

All I'm saying is that if I wanted to spent millions of dollars to get attention, making a documentary about a random football club wouldn't be my first instinct.

I think a lot of football fans are just naturally suspicious of club owners, as the most visible of them are all crooks, psychopaths and/or Tories. A good portion of Watford fans never warmed up to Elton John's association with the club even though he provided some much-needed cash at pivotal moments. Reynolds and McElhenney might be screwed either way because they'll either be too "foreign" when they don't attend every single game or looked down on for being attention-grabbing idiots when they actually do show up, as per the ridicule they received for celebrating a goal that was almost certainly going to be ruled offside a few months back.

Well, of course I know him.

I just could not possibly care less about a show about Rob and Ryan Reynolds buying a soccer team. Especially since it’s already the only thing Rob ever talks about aside from Sunny.

It’s essentially a docuseries about two millionaire celebs adding to their personal brands.

I haven't followed their soccer team stuff at all, because I don't care about soccer or the whims of millionaires, but if they're injecting some of the money they have that'd just sit in bank accounts or investments solely to raise their personal wealth into a community that's pretty cool.

Yeah I would have loved to see them doing something like that, like invest in a charity or a community center or something. He says that since his mom and two brothers are all gay he's always been part of the LGBT scene, try something in that space, that'd be cool. I could buy that from him after how genuine Mac Finds His Pride came off. Even a gym, maybe, help people who have been injured or sick or just let things go to poo poo get their body back together. Owning a sports team is like, the least philanthropic effort possible. Oooh, he's a job creator.

No I just don't find it commendable or something I'd call "investing in the community" to buy a large business there. If some rich celebrity buys an arcade center in your town, are they "investing in the community"? If they buy a casino, is that community enrichment? Gimme a break.

If you like soccer, hey fine that's cool, and Ted's a fun show, but it's hard for me to swallow this as some great philanthropic effort. He's a rich guy that wants to own a sports team, good for him, I couldn't care less.

Huh? I think there was a misunderstanding there. When I said "after how genuine Mac Finds His Pride came off", I meant "very genuine". That dance was incredible, I cry every time I watch it, the dance itself, Frank's "I get it" moment, Mac coming out to his dad only for him to say nothing and walk out of the building, it was fantastic.

I never said he didn't invest into LGBT communities, only that it'd be cool to see since he genuinely seems to care about it. If you inferred anything else, that's on you.

Ah yes because when you put your money in your bank account it literally just sits there like Scrooges money bin and is just locked out of the economy.

This thread really took a hard turn. I assume their new show / documentary is going to be more along the lines of Netflix's F1 show (Drive to Survive) and hopefully be more about the Wrexham football team rather than about Rob & Ryan's daily lives with buying a football team.

I would imagine the reason they chose Wrexham was likely just because the list of affordable football clubs for sale is a very short list.
