I'm not crazy, the premise for Lycoris Recoil is kinda insane right? Like, it's some good anime, but it also feels like someone looked at Gunslinger Girl and said "okay, but what if the story about orphaned child assassins being used by the state to eliminate undesirables was cute and fun instead of disturbing and depressing".

Oh yeah, from a production standpoint it's very good - I've just got a feeling that the show's politics are going to be rancid since it seems like they're playing in the space of something like GitS SAC but doesn't seem too interesting in taking it seriously and is far more interested in vibes that are more high school sports anime (at least from what's come out) than spy thriller.

I mean, it seems pretty obvious from just three episodes in that the all-powerful schoolgirl assassin factory are going to be the main villains, no? Episode 3 in particular was entirely dedicated to rubbing our faces in what a profoundly unhealthy environment it was and confirmed that the protagonists' adorable new hacker little sister is an enemy of the state and may be helping prepare an anti-government insurgency.
