There's another game literally called Imperialism; it even has a colony, Imperialism II!

Imperialism owns. I prefer the first over the second though personally

Gaius Marius posted:Imperialism owns. I prefer the first over the second though personally I recall late game wars being really stupid and tedious but I remember naval warfare being fun if you were able to build out a fleet a bit; also the supply chain stuff kinda felt like a more strategic version of Knights and Merchants, which was cool.

marxismftw posted:I'm gonna do an imperialism so loving hard when this game comes out. I think from what we've heard of Vic3 it's Paradox's most anarchist-friendly game yet. It's kind of funny that Paradox has had rebels flying that red and black anarchist flag in all their games, whether it historically makes sense or not, making anarchists 'those annoying people who are getting in the way'. I'm glad they're finally considering how to let you lean into and explore anarchism in an era where it was something a lot of people were actually trying to do. In contrast to Victoria 2 and it's dumbass nonsense anarcho-liberals. Fake edit: I forgot HoI4 came up with a whole system for the anarchists in the Spanish Civil War that seems pretty novel and fleshed out, but as someone who's more interested in the social and economic implications of anarchism, rather than the military implications, Vic3 is still going to be a novel Paradox experience.

Gaius Marius posted:Imperialism owns. I prefer the first over the second though personally As a kid I got one of those collection box sets of 20 SSI games and they've sorta congealed in my memory as a single game. I'm worried that if I try to go back to any of them I'm just going to be mad that it doesn't live up to my memory. That said, I did go back to Panzer General and it still somehow holds up. Sword of Aragon... I think it may have only been good in my dumb kid-brain.

Koorisch posted:Imperialism 1+2 are good fun, Fantasy General was a neat game too. one of the things Imperialism did super well that I'm hoping Vicky 3 can recapture is make it feel like your society is just fundamentally different as the game goes on. at first you're really scraping by, minimal urbanization or anyhthing, and then by midgame you have these sprawling cities hooked up to complicated agricultural systems, and by end game you're fighting industrial wars in what feels like a natural evolution. ok ok where is my gog account

Did they break the content embargo on v3 all of the sudden? I'm seeing a lot of V3 footage that doesn't look like it came from the leaked build. Ed: wait no it's from the leak lol
