I'm assuming the rationale behind this is that censoring things is probably required in some of the countries they want to roll this out in, and they've decided to take the cheapest option and just do a one-size-fits-all approach and ran everything through some kind of automated process with results all over the place.

Machine learning remains a way to obscure skilled labor (artistic, intellectual, etc.) by transforming it into "unskilled" labor (curation that separates garbage outputs from useful ones, tedious and repetitive training, etc.) and pretending that it's a "technological solution". The funniest part about machine learning is when the people who use it don't realize that it doesn't supplant labor, only changes it, and try to use it direct out of the box. That's how you end up censoring a knee, or all of Garfield, or whatever.
