I go to her apartment and ask if they lost any ferrets recently? and she's like "no I don't think so," and almost closed the door...She then thought about it and said well maybe. Look if you own an exotic pet, and someone you don't know comes to you door asking if you lost the same type of pet, you would likely react instantly knowing it was probably your pet...but this lady had too many I guess and I could smell the bad ferret smell from the door. Anyway, she convinced the ferret out from inside our kitchen walls somehow and took it home, she seemed strange.

Dogs have this too, but it generally goes away in adulthood, whereas it seems to stay with cats. People often will clip a hair clip to the back of their adults cats neck to get them to be still when grooming/bathing/trimming nails. Most cats you have to keep them used to it from an early age. My sister tried doing that on one of her cats but he was like 4 by the time she learned the trick and he was having nothing to do with it. With my cats, I used to pet them aggressively on their neck and even do like a pretend version of the momma cat thing where i'd grab their scruff, but massage it too. They fuckin loved it.
