You are clearly missing some Engels. The ideal ratio between Friedrichs Engels and Karls Marx is 1:1. If you have too many Marx, they will either just starve to death due to lack of patronage, or else get stuck writing weird racist diatribes when they have no Engels to tell them off from pseudoscientific racist theories, so you don't want any more Marx than you have Engels. Marx himself was in favor of getting your Engels production off the ground before you set up Marx factories.

Don't forget the Jenny Marxes, because otherwise your Engelss will be forced to spend much of their time translating the Marxes' hideous chicken scratch into something legible.

The Engels-ratio is a crucial axiom of Marxism, yes. Occasionally, there must an Engels-equivalent intellectual labor effort in trolling back a Marx-equivalent effort to ensure the proper functioning and result of said effort.

I would often for megacampaigns advocate for Ersatz factories to be modded in to help convert more plentiful goods into bottlenecked resources to let some resource poor nations specialize better and the last time my idea was implemented it actually worked kinda decently at making the game more fun for more people who could now *build things*.

Being able to support more varied setups and modded scenarios like random world mods would be fantastic; because if the economy does a good job at being responsive than in theory, it should work regardless if the coal is now somewhere else. The market adjusts and reaches a new equilibruhim while still functioning and providing a fun end user experience.

So yeah basically my hope the economy works well enough and that they put their focus on that core sandbox mechanic so that modders can make really awesome alternative history/procedural world generation content and other scenarios and have them not be broken.

Adaptive raw resource supply would work a little better in Vicky 2 if somehow workers were incentivized to work on a profitable RGO. Say coal is valuable and the RGO is understaffed--pops could be incentivized to switch to laborers and work at the RGO when the coal price is high. Either through increased wages or some share in the production profit.

As it is in late Vicky 2 sometimes RGOs become depopulated as laborers switch to craftsmen, which reduces production for raw resources.

I feel like the way Victoria 3 is going to handle it where "RGOs" aren't really a thing anymore and everything is just buildings and jobs might help to address that somewhat. In Vicky 2 craftsmen and laborers/farmers were entirely distinct categories of people with completely separate mechanics determining how much they'd get paid. I don't think POPs even really considered "potential earning power" when calculating promotion odds anyway - it was just a straight up "I'm literate and there's factories here with open job slots, therefore I should promote to craftsman".
