The Warriors iirc are kinda mixed, their original leader who gets killed at the start being black (and the Rockstar game basically makes him the protagonist for most of it, which uses the movie's events as a finale) and their outfits and symbology are vaguely Native American.

They are. Cleon, Snow and Cochise are black and Rembrandt is Hispanic. And I'm not particularly concerned about a movie from the arse end of the 70s whitewashing street gangs, y'know?

There's also an extended cut out there somewhere - not the director's cut - which expands Cleon's role by adding a scene with his girlfriend and another where he's gathering the delegation that explain his motives for wanting to go.

On the subject of things aging interestingly, the trailer for the new Shazam movie has an Eminem song in it. I remember the 90s when there was controversy about the NFL putting My Name is Slim Shady in commercials without looking at the lyrics because it's a fun bouncy tune, and now his work is alongside one of the more kid-centric superhero movies. I gather his output hasn't been like the 90s and early aughts for a long time, but it's still interesting that that happened.

Well poo poo, if you want to go further back with that, look at the various Ice rappers. Ice Cube has done how many family comedies? Ice T is all over the place, Vanilla Ice flips homes (though I think there was a controversy about that? Someone suing him over something? I can't recall)

They may have been slightly more concerned about the verse where the singer calls Superman a homosexual (bowdlerised) and offers to impregnate an extremely willing Lois Lane. Rapper's Delight definitely belongs in this thread for that.

This is as good as segue as any that there is some theories out that that backlash to disco was because white (epsecially) males were upset that a genre was being dominated by not white men, so they had to create a campaign against it and destroy disco artists.

Yeah too bad the devs are huge scam artists who managed to bungle and scam literally everyone repeatedly. The trailer was just a cutscene they pretended was being actually played and was nowhere near complete when Bethesda got mad and pulled the plug.

Of course, the devs are now back at Bethesda after released their previous game and immediately declaring bankruptcy and then transferring everything to a new studio under Bethesda in order to avoid providing the after-launch support they had been paid to do.

This is probably the one time I'd believe/trust Bethesda over the other party, because the other party is just THAT awful. Also, it sure is funny that they willingly returned to Bethesda if Bethesda had indeed hosed them over. Like they literally pulled the 'Oh no we're bankrupt sorry we can't honor any contracts with you, not even to do years of work that you paid us to do. Oh by the way we sold everything to a studio ran by Bethesda that every single one of us is coincidentally joining. Seeya, suckers!' scam. Implies that they were, in fact, the original issue.

Also, HHS never made even a remotely good game since Prey (2006) and definitely never put out anything that was near the quality of the supposed game in the Prey 2 trailer.

I actually don't have a clue why Bethesda would take them back. I'm not aware of them trying to scam Bethesda though, just being incompetent. But well...

Wikipedia posted:

On November 13, 2019, the studio announced its closure, immediately after the release of Rune 2. The whole team subsequently formed a new studio, Roundhouse Studios, under Bethesda Softworks. Chris Rhinehart of Human Head/Roundhouse stated that "Sadly, we had to wind down the business of Human Head Studios and close its doors", but had been able to reach out to Bethesda to establish this new studio."

'Subsequently' being 'literally the same day'.

Article on it posted:

“We reached out to our friends at Bethesda for help, and they saw that same creativity and passion in our team. With the formation of Roundhouse Studios, Bethesda offered every employee of Human Head a position at the new company.

“We are excited our team will remain together, pursuing the work we love, as part of a company we already know and admire.”

Article on them being sued posted:

For a bit of background, Human Head Studios had been developing Rune 2 for years, with Ragnarok slated to publish it. Their partnership grew shaky right before the game launched on Nov. 12 on the Epic Games Store. Human Head had become unresponsive, and five days before launch, it informed Ragnarok that it was shutting down, forcing the publisher to shoulder any post-launch development and support.

The day after release, Human Head closed its doors, only to quickly reopen them as Roundhouse Studios, a Bethesda-owned development house. Ragnarok only found out about this around the same time everyone else did. In other words, Ragnarok wasn't informed that Human Head was looking to be acquired by competitors. The lawsuit alleges that the announcement was timed to "cause maximum damage" to the well-being of the publisher as well as Rune 2's future.

Furthermore, Ragnarok has asked former Human Head, now Roundhouse employees to turn over all the finalized game code, which allegedly belongs to the publisher per their agreement. Not only has the company previously known as Human Head refused to do so, the suit alleges, it's also tried to alter the code and publish it onto the Epic Store. It's unclear whether or not this code was altered with malicious intent.

They did eventually return the code, like a year later.

So they just happened to have a company waiting for HHS staff on the exact same day HHS closed... the day after they tossed out Rune 2, which was a pile of poo poo, and left the publishers holding the bag. Apparently they had been secretly working on a game as well (online comic book-based 3v3 3rd person shooter) when they pulled their scam and are currently making it for Bethesda.

I mean, it's one thing to play the role of a cop for money, but when you do it for a decade on a show that deepthroats the police* for forty-seven minutes I think people are right to suggest some flaws in the man's philosophical stance.
