I think Behind the Bastards brought up his ex-wife in one of the Alex Jones episodes and made it clear that while she was the more sympathetic party in the divorce -- owing to the fact that she was not asking for money, but trying to keep the children away from Jones for fear of indoctrinating them, like including his son on InfoWars -- she is not exactly a good person, either. Obviously, I don't know specifics because it's personal info.

Yes, for Jones, this whole thing was a cynical campaign to prevent gun legislation. BUT! I know a fair bit of conspiracy people personally and professionally. I make no secret of where I stand, but I also try to understand where they're coming from. And I think one of the really insidious ways that conspiracy theories affect people is it trains them to always disbelieve the obvious explanation for things. 9/11 was an inside job and antivaxx stuff is just the thin end of the wedge for more mundane conspiratorial thinking. Democrats don't want to protect everyone's civil rights. They want to lock up and cancel white people. Liberals don't want to expand people's health care options. They want to raise taxes for everyone so that their supporters can have jobs while making everyone else poorer. Trudeau isn't trying to stop a bunch of white nationalists from blocking commerce between the US and Canada. He wants a back door way to stifle dissent. Soon he will come for you! And on and on until  These people will generally agree with everything I argue on improving people's material conditions, but good luck getting them to ever vote for that over culture war poo poo!

Its not a right wing opinion its a right wing thought terminating tactic. Every time there's a massacre caused by ridiculous weapons being easily in the reach of lunatics it brings up questions of gun control. The NRA's entire strength is saying absolutely loving not to anything like that and no other stance. So when the issue arises you have to shout louder than the other side "THEY DID IT NOT GUNS" and in a post truth world that poo poo works. This is where people get confused about fuckheads like Alex Jones. Maybe the first time they tried the whole "false flag" thing they were winging it, but now its written into the playbook. It'd be a lot easier if there wasn't a kernel of truth to talking about how corrupt government is or whatever. Yes, you can't trust a government and yes, you can't trust the powerful. The answer isn't therefore to stockpile guns and threaten to blow up libraries over hosting drag queens, but to realize that in a capitalistic system there is ample incentive to rule on behalf of the wealthy and that a democracy is a stopgap against that. Oddly, there was a KF episode where they went over someone calling into IW back in 2003 saying what "the liberals believe." Alex actually mentioned that they're right about a lot of the issues, but then they go off into completely looney-tunes responses or something.
