I have friends who know nothing about the F Plus but have picked up "I don't have that problem, goodbye" from me using it on occasion because it's such an iconic post of internet.

I think there's some line in some F Plus ep like that, something like "So in a sense psi energy is real." and probably Lemon goes "...and in a diffferent, more correct sense it isn't." I think about that one too.

It was really jarring to hear him drop a hard r in one of the early episodes. Charitably, in context it sort of made sense but c'mon man that wasn't acceptable even in 2010. The rest of the episode was really... interesting to listen to in the present though, in the sense that you can guess with what I suspect would be a high degree of accuracy exactly how these people's lives have gone since then.

That came to my mind reading that post as well. I listened to it last month while revisiting old episodes and it really put a damper on the whole thing.

I've only really got one argument against skipping the first 50 episodes of the f plus:

Episode 49 is Reno Iz Drezt In A Kostoom

That is just some great times reading descriptions of terrible OCs.

I haven't listened to it recently, but #35 "No Adult Supervision" has a line that sticks in my head for no reason: someone introducing Lemon as "lemonlemonLEMONlemon". It plays in my brain whenever I buy lemons. So, that and 49 can stay.

Yeah this is another rare good early episode (it's #26: Ranch Dressing & Other Delights). The recording quality is what you'd expect and for some reason there's nine participants, which might be the most I've ever seen, but the content is fantastic. The hosts are immediately and constantly grossed out at the various awful combinations of corn chips and mayo, including microwave roux, disgusting vegetable "pizza", and the incredibly pointless Taco-in-a-Bag! A personal favorite touch is towards the end when the recipe writers start including drink pairings for their terrible dishes. Another point towards my thesis that there's No Bad Food Episodes.

This discussion has had me going back to the really early ones and the PUA episode is really weird, because it has some absolutely incredible content but also has a section in the middle that's basically just a guy describing rape. Like, the (point to schlong) and "big juicy mangoes" bits still pop into my head extremely regularly, but going back and listening to the whole episode is hard at this point.

Ah, Ascended Masters references.

Nonsense Bazaar has a few episodes on the topic but the tldr is: in the 1800s a well-read con woman made up a religion. She died, the grift continued. That inspired new con artists who simplified things. 150 years later and the idea's seeped into the general public because it has to be ancient wisdom right?

Edit: There were a few episodes where they read spiritually significant texts. Including the "I Remember Lemuria" series.

It read like 1930s fanfic: a super cool smart and talented artist and his dear woman girlfriend teamed up with amazonians to defeat evil robots.

The thing is, these stories were published as fact, and became the origin of several archetypes about UFOs and alien encounters. Like how the chupacabara and Slenderman were made up but now they're accepted parts of folk lore.

Monster Talk had a good 2 part episode (Part 1, Part 2) about the Shaver Mysteries (i.e. Lemuria) and how it has tied into both the UFO movement and more modern conspiracies.

Wait what? Slenderman's part of serious folklore now? How can that happen when it's publicly and concretely documented as to how it was created? There's no mystery about the stories, we know exactly who told them, when they did, where they did, how they did, why they did...

Q Anon Anonymous did a good episode on the I AM Cult, which is the name of the religion in the US that sprung up around "Theosophy" which is the term the lady who invented it used

Theosophy is the basis of a bunch of esoteric Nazi poo poo, so be very careful googling/going down a rabbit hole about it. There's a lot of Theosophic underpinnings in the doctrine of The Order of Nine Angles, for example, which is tied to a whole bunch of no-poo poo ritual murders in Europe and the United States

I've seen some older than zoomer people believing it either because they don't know about Slenderman stuff or because one of the YouTube series made up a backstory that the Germans had a folk tale about The Tall Man (or something like that). And people thought that that was true and that Slenderman stuff was riffing off of a real tale.

To be fair, "tall, unnatural, not quite human dude in a suit" has been a common enough figure in spooky stuff anyway.

Listening to older episodes is making me wonder when Magick's pronunciation was agreed upon. It doesn't seem to be a thing everyone gets until everyone gets it.

Also the fplus had an edit of Lil' Kim's Magic Stick with a boots quote edited in and when I heard the song in the latest episode I was waiting to hear it.
