CuddleCryptid posted:You can make a lot of small rooms rather than large ones but you need someone to staff each of them, the per-room capacity decreases, and you will have trouble finding floor space to get the prestige of the room up. But other than that it's largely a balancing act, since gigantic rooms also tend to not be efficient due to max class sizes. You also leave yourself less room for adding items to complete student assignment requirements down the line.

Yeah, a two square buffer on rooms over the bare minimum for practical class areas is pretty highly recommended. It's not like hospital where so long as you can squeeze the examination machine and a trash can in the room you're basically golden so long as you blanket the walls with posters.

Why aren't the students using my private tuition room? I hired a teacher for it. The room looks nice. But no student wants to go there?

You can manually send shitass students to private tutoring if they need it, although they should be going on their own. The option is on the bottom of their info cards. The students are also a bit lazy and will queue for positions near where they are rather than walking to another area to walk right in.

Do the student info cards feel a little bit overwhelming to anyone else? It seems like you actually have to pay attention to a lot of the information on them, unlike TPH, where you really just needed their diagnosis status, current health, and a few comfort levels like food/drink/bathroom needs. Patients came in, got diagnosed and treated, and then booted out the door, so most of the time I never even looked at their info cards beyond "is this person currently dying?". I'm very early into TPC, but I'm already seeing goals like "make two people reach Best Friends" level, which... how micro-managey do I need to get with the individual students?

Yeah relationships have levels, for 1-3 all you need is to put down benches or sofas in areas where students will chat, a SU or lounge will do the job. Once they get into the higher levels they'll request specific items for 4-6, then again for 7-10. Clubs work the same way. Also for the knighthood campus, for the love of god get a research lab going as soon as possible because so many assignment items need to be researched and it will murder your income if you don't get a jump on it.

game is a lot easier then hospital just because you can paint your buildings instead of being locked into whatever bullshit they throw at you it also flows better in general, although it's kind of harder to understand why things aren't going well takes to long too the school year ought to be like half the time

It's been so long since I played Two Point Hospital, was it always possible to add additional doors to rooms? I have to say, I think not having to put down a million benches for the patients makes the corridors looks a lot less cluttered. I appreciate it.

There's been a bunch of quality of life improvements so far. I like: - being able to edit rooms without it booting everyone out - being able to queue staff for training and they'll fit in when there's free time (ie. when not teaching) - being able to upgrade machines and still have them be in use I did get caught out by a quirk of the new Research system - I had a teacher trained in research but they didn't want to work in there despite it being the only thing id set them to do. Turns out the research training isn't needed to do research, but sometimes being trained in a specific subject is, and she didn't have that training. I'm about 5 or 6 campuses in (I'm on the wizard curse one right now), three-starring as I go. Been enjoying it so far.

Tunzie posted:- being able to queue staff for training and they'll fit in when there's free time (ie. when not teaching) I've noticed that if you queue your entire staff this way it will massively prioritize janitors because it works by checking which nearby staff member is currently looking for a thing to do, which is almost always a janitor, since their tasks are fulfilled the fastest.

It does make it nice when you have a pile of money doing nothing though and can just blow shitloads on queueing up a load of training.

Played a bit so far and I'm enjoying it. It's mostly more of the same but that is fine by me. Blueprints for rooms are in from the start which is a nice QOL feature. What I do miss is the ability to have an overview for the assigned tasks for your staff in one view. At the moment if you want to check or change their assigned jobs you need to pull them up individually whereas in the previous game you could get an overview of everyone at once which was much more convenient. So hopefully they patch that in

Zadda posted:What I do miss is the ability to have an overview for the assigned tasks for your staff in one view. Yeah it seems strange they left that out (unless it's hidden somewhere), as I like to have dedicated researchers and dedicated library staff. Still possible to do through individual staff panels but it's a bit more finnicky.

Two Point Campus has been fun so far. My thoughts The presentation and graphics are nice and I feel it's a way more fun setting than the hospitals were. The announcement lady gets a bit repetitive even if the lines themselves are good. Unavoidable if you're binging this game though. The school years I feel move too fast, in contrary to what others said. I'm almost always limited by money and that only comes at month end. So I get money, spend it all as fast as possible, and I'm just waiting for more. Pathfinding can be a little janky. I had like a dozen people college wide just standing in place with a ??? over their heads for an entire school year and the 4 pages of stats on each character never explained the "where do they want to go and why can't they go?" part. I keep selecting objects to move when I'm trying to select something else or just trying to exit build mode. I think the one I'd change about 2PC is the information. Like I said, I can know what kind of jam like they like on their toast, but the game will not tell me why people's pathfinding and scheduling are broken or what I need to go and resolve. Is a lab set up to block people from using it? hosed if I know, but I know everyone's jam preferences and who their BFFs are.

just take loans for money, aggressively. it's pretty rare you're running a deficit in practice, at least from what I've experienced, you're just not making a ton of money. So loans are pretty safe.

This seems like a handy tip from reddit. You should set cohort sizes to multiples of 8 or 16 because lecture theatres and labs are fixed at 8 capacity no matter how big or small you make them:quote:Absolutely chime in if you have had a different experience, but it seems to me that the best early game move is to immediately lower the Initial incoming course size from 10 students down to 8 students. If you don't know, you can do this using the gear icon on the top right of the course on the manage courses screen where you pick them for the new year and level them up. https://www.reddit.com/r/TwoPointCampus/comments/wl1uja/set_incoming_course_sizes_to_8_rather_than_10/

Perhaps the default size should have been 8 because I had no idea, I just assumed the default wouldn't be horribly inefficient. Although it didn't really hamper my students in any significant way so I guess the low difficulty counterbalanced the inefficiency

From reddit. "The constant attacks that turn entire rooms into pumpkinheads is a nightmare. On top of these guys constantly getting into potion accidents and picking up pastoral conditions because they’re too upset by the pumpkin head thing to sleep." I haven't gotten to the Hogwarts map yet where this starts happening, I'm on the Knight one where people turn up to trash stuff. I do like how Two Point Campus made school shootings into something bit more whimsical.

I don’t think it’s school shootings, it’s more the American college movie trope of the campus invasion from a rival college.

Yeah that's true, and I see that's what they were going for. Although the idea of people walking into classrooms and doing violence (I presume the pumpkinhead thing is a magic spell) and then the students involved literally can't sleep afterward is a bit on the nose, but that's probably just C-spam brain

If we're imagining games where you exploit people in goofy ways we need to think one step bigger than hospital or school administrator. Landlord! No, not as in Two Point Apartment, I'm talking Lord of the land as in Two Point Village. "Attention peasants, this is a reminder to make sure your dead actually are before you bring them out. Yesterday was awkward for all of us"
