The only true thing Alex said during his legal depositions was that his response to it in calling it fake/staged/whatever was that it was "boilerplate." He has been doing the same shtick since the Oklahoma City Bombing in '93. People want to believe "Alex Jones" was a mask that became a person, but the underlying problem was always there, and his material wealth has simply reinforced his already-extant worst qualities over time. Media of him from the pre-aughts time period is rare, so we just assume he might have been a normal dude once upon a time, but that still discounts the fact that he was raised within a Bircherite cult where pathologically anticommunist reading material outpopulated any comic books. The conspiracy mindset was always going to be a foregone conclusion for him.

However, what Alex Jones is facing is a series of lube-free hate-gently caress courtroom gangbangs from groups of people - Sandy Hook parents, attorneys, the courts - he has seriously mistreated and enraged for years. If nothing else it was a teaching moment of why big companies would bend over backwards to make a case be a problem in some weird state. Very few people are going to rally to him, he's loving radioactive, but, being rich and getting sued is something many people have a vested interest in so I don't expect heaven and earth to move to give us the storybook ending we all want. If someone Alex Jones sized falls, the gates open is what people are surely thinking.

The way most rich people abuse the legal system is by shutting the gently caress up, hiring good lawyers, and not pissing off the courts on a personal level, all things which Alex Jones has demonstrated he is incapable of. Remember, this isn't the end of Jones legal troubles, it's the beginning. It took so long because Jones kept trying to play games and the judge entered a default judgement against him, which I'm given to understand never happens. Following that, his lawyer sent a huge, multi-gigabyte AlexJonesCrimes.iso to opposing council and didn't claw it back, which I'm also given to understand never happens. The past couple of weeks has been a demonstration that even with the system tilted in his favor, Alex Jones is completely incapable of not loving this up for himself and will absolutely continue to do so. The only thing he can do is what he has been doing: Slowing things down, and even that's becoming harder to do. I honestly half-expect this to end much like the Lowtax saga, which I'd hate to see. I want to see him called to the stand over and over in civil court and just continuously step in dogshit every time. Remember: Even Trump had most of his defeats come from the courts.
