Assholes wouldn't stop feeding a local turkey with fries from BK and the Gyro place, so our DNR had to put him down. (Gyro place and BK are to the right in the video below) They literally told the public "stop feeding Penny or we'll have to shoot him" and they kept feeding him. (His name is Penny because he lived on Penn Ave) He was super aggressive and would regularly attack people on motorcycles and bicycles. I know it's a tabloid, but the fact that a turkey that lived on my block in a second ring suburb of Minneapolis made it to the Daily Mail is pretty wild. https://i.imgur.com/oyGWG0W.gifv The day of my move-in he was camped out in the crosswalk to the right blocking traffic. That was a hobby of his. Just a pissed off horny juvenile bird standing in the road forcing people to go around him. Here is is after crossing the road 20 feet in front of me and circling back to attack me from the side, because he really loving hated 2 wheeled vehicles. Dustbathing in the planter outside my bedroom window. It sucked having to explain it to my niblings that they weren't going to see Penny anymore, but we decided it was better to explain it to them and have them visit the memorial rather than lie to them. Minneapolis/St. Paul has a 74 mile long national park running through the middle of it, so seeing wild animals like deer, racoons, turkeys, coyotes, and even a bear is a regular occurrence. Milo and POTUS posted:lmfao That's normal for edible animals shot by law enforcement. If a moose has to be put down in Alaska, they aren't throwing that 500lbs of meat in a landfill. A tube of ground meat is a score at any foodshelf. Often the best you get is expired hotdogs. In my state you can literally sign up to be on the list of people that get called when a deer gets hit by a car so you can go harvest the meat. I've eaten a lot of roadkill venison. It's no different than hunted meat, except vehicles do more blunt force trauma than a bullet, so you have to throw away a lot more "bloodshot meat." LEO shot animal < vehicle hit, btw. If a deer gets it's leg broken and law enforcement has to dispatch it, the stress and adrenaline makes the meat really tough and terrible. Only suitable for jerky and sausage. I ate a LOT of venison sausage and jerky as a kid... Like, to the point that the meat processor we used literally changed their default recipe for venison summer sausage to match the changes my dad requested. (IIRC, the change was pork instead of beef filler meat, double the garlic and mustard seeds)

Sweden also has you go to school, take proficiency tests, be part of a hunting team, association, and coordinate with local wildlife administrators, before you can legally hunt anything. Moose is only valid for part of the year, how many moose can be shot in each area is determined by the administrators, and obv. you can't shoot calves or calving mothers etc. If you mess up you go to prison. If you mess up you will be hounded into prison by the other members for messing up the hunt and affecting the coming ones. Shoot an animal on the wrong side of the administrative border and the other team will hound you into prison. You can not buy, inherit, or own a firearm without a licence for that particular firearm. The Swedish moose population is still growing. ThisIsJohnWayne has a new favorite as of 10:48 on Aug 16, 2022 |
