Anyone remember where that beaver tweet was about beavers building more reservoirs than privatised water? I used the search but it didn't find it. Nor in 'the other place'. Nor google.

the beavers have them beat on volume of water too, guaranteed

hell, even I beat the water companies on that, because they haven't built fuckin' any reservoirs of water in over thirty fuckin' years

Only two contestants left! Here is Doom's chance for revenge...

Okay that article is dumb, because all the ideas about brain enhancing technology is pure science fiction. (You might as well have an article called "Can we reduce the number of Bin Men we need to employ by exposing a bunch to Gamma Radiation?")

But let's suppose it is correct that we will have brain boosting chips. And let's say they actually work and make you better at being a lawyer*.
They talk about companies will put pressure** on lawyers to get Cyberd up so they can have individual super lawyers instead of teams of them to work on cases.
Ignoring the fact that the kind of person who volunteers for something like this is likely to be a sort of sociopath who might have the wrong viewpoint on the case. At least having teams of lawyers allows for debate and for other people to point out blindspots.

*= Big loving if there. Yes retention of knowledge and being able to research and cross reference stuff is a huge part of the job. So is figuring out if a situation applies to the task at hand, balancing the cost versus the likely outcome and the reality of how a judge could rule. You know, stuff a computer can't do.

** = Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a great game. The main plot was about Futurists who wanted no regulation augmentation to build a utopia. Versus an Illuminati who wanted full control of people and augmented humans were too dangerous.
But a subplot I loved was how Augmentation just created this race to the bottom where companies demanded everyone become augmented to increase productivity, and if you couldn't get the procedure done, you became unemployable. As well as the people who couldn't afford it going to dangerous black market augmented operations.
It really had a lot to say about many capitalist issues with society. But that got overlooked by people who were all "I want a game about how science solves all my human problems."
And people who complained that they put points into Stealth Hackers and then couldn't do the Boss Fights.

We managed to significantly reduce the number of bin men needed per ton of waste just by putting wheels on the bins. Have we tried that with the courts?

Someone should accuse her of anti-British racism (the worst racism).

You wouldn't dare call the Chinese the laziest people on earth, would you Liz? Or the Koreans? But according to your woke postmodern Lamarckist ideology you can say what you like about the British on account of their Trojan fishman privileged. Couldn't make it up.

yeah aside from the obviously borrowed from viz concept of a superlawyer, the solution they're excited about isn't for access to justice or miscarriages of justice or any of that poo poo. it's driving the cost down by doing more for less! becasue of course it is!

I suspect the mainstream view would be "if it can help people that's good, but if it's only accessible to a shrinking elite that's bad, and if it widens the gap between rich and poor that's very bad" like with GMO, stem cells, IVF, etc., but in a time of decreasing religiosity and increasing polarization and media sensationalism of course the ones that spend all day shouting about dead children's brainstems and Hillary Clinton will get most of the coverage.
