You can also grow them in planters, but I prefer the snuggles of a wild kitten to one grown in your backyard.

[homer_backing_into_hedge_then_emerging_covered_in_kitten_scratches.mp4] The Battersea Dogs and Cats Home did a study showing that people who self-report being very experienced with cats are bad at reading the signs when new cats they interact with don’t want to be skritched where the people are skritching them. So they made this charming video, which can also apply to many other situations: “How to interact with your cat | The Battersea Way” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwqG2wLb0KQ

Spiders and insects can do all kinds of neat things with water because their limbs are small enough to not break surface tension.

Also the snake wasn't showing any body language of being aggressive or afraid. It was just checking out the big weird thing and left.

Dienes posted:Isn't that snake insanely venomous? I love how the man is so filled with joy and wonder he deflects the snake with happy noises. Depends on the species - turtle-headed and marbled sea snakes feed almost exclusively on fish eggs and have very weak venoms that are largely obsolete and they will probably evolve to lose them entirely in relatively short order. This one looks like it could be a Stoke's sea snake? They're the heaviest species of sea snake, also sporting the longest fangs of any marine snake, and are sometimes mistaken for moray eels by divers. Most likely it could deliver a fatal bite but there are no recorded fatalities from them because like most snakes they have pretty much zero desire to bite a human unless we threaten them and even then they're usually reluctant - the fact that this snake is often caught accidentally yet hasn't killed anyone on record speaks volumes. The idea that sea snakes are the most venomous snakes is a myth but some of them can definitely kill you and many species are much more toxic than say a pit viper or even a cobra - that said Australian brown snake species and their cousins the taipans both out do them in potency considerably. One thing of note is that antivenom is rare for them - Australia being one of the few places where a supply of it is produced - but also the venom of both true sea snakes and sea kraits are both similar enough that Australian tiger snake antivenom can be used in a pinch.

Sea snakes are pretty curious, I've often had them come up to check me out while diving. All in all pretty chill customers if you don't bother them!

from the video description I thought the guy actually touched it but no, he just wisely gestured in its general direction venomous or not, snakes tend to really hate having their noses touched

While sea snakes are venomous they also very rarely attack people. They're just happy to chill and do their thing.
