Some people have so little perceived power in their lives that their only joy is to make someone else miserable. They would love to be cops but they couldn't swing the actual work part, so they get on their HOA's board instead.

Yeah in Australia there's definitely quite a few places where if you're property if filled with long dry dead grass and it's bush fire season the council will get onto you about it. Which I don't know, that seems far enough. Never heard about it in none bush fire seasons, although their are some pretty lovely councils around so maybe?

Yellow mustard is a fine condiment on American fare and get hosed if you are going to be pretentious about mustard. That is reserved only for Germans.

Oh so I got a 4 pack of dijon mustards as a gift recently, and goddamn they are good. Like so creamy and flavorful, I end up using a ton on my sandwiches. I've been burning through it fast. The last jar is full grain mustard, not sure how I'm going to utilize that one.

I'm never sure about the cultural ubiquity of asterix Asterix and Obelisk are probably familiar-ish characters, at least the look of them, to most Americans, but I don't think many people here actually know the characters beyond just the basic appearance of the titular two. I only really know the characters at all because I read some of the comics in French classes. Edit: By "here" I just mean America, not the forums.
