I had a trem on a S570 from 2013 or so and after I got it restrung, tuned up, and nut locked, all it ever needed was minor tweaks of the fine tuners down on the bridge. Those fine tuners made tuning so easy, I wish every bridge had them, HT or not.

The Stomp sounds great and integrates with a pedal board really well. Its limited by only having six blocks but I havent found that to be an issue, personally. But if youre the kind of person that likes to really dive into tone design, or just want the higher quality models/IRs, it might be worth going straight to the FM3

Thanks, this helps a lot! I was looking at the Helix Floor vs Stomp, and it seems I'd be happy enough with the Stomp. I did see they also upped it to 8 blocks (from 6) recently. I'd be getting an FRFR powered speaker as well, and really hoping that I like this setup more than my current setup. It may be a tall task, as I am really happy with the sound of my Quilter + cabinet + pedals. My goal is to get rid of pedals and start using banks and presets and explore more amp simulations. Even if the Helix takes pedals well, I'd feel like it's only a moderate success if I can't get rid of all my pedals, cuz I'd still be fiddling and tap dancing.

Really that ash/maple LP should have an unbound neck, dot inlays, and a matching unfinished headstock. Maybe 6 in-line instead of 3+3.

I'm far from the best/most sophisticated player, but as an apartment dweller, the HX Stomp is one of the best purchases I've ever made, especially since I also play bass. It's also reasonably cheap used or on discount - I bought mine for $450 new when Prymaxe had a 25% off coupon. Other guitar forums are also full of praise for modelers from the Chinese companies like Nux, but I ended up going with HX just due to their extensive history of providing updates and adding new amps/effects. Fractal is very well regarded too, so you can't go wrong with either.

I got it as a gadget to fool around with effects pedals I would otherwise not pay for, and it’s turned into the center of my setup, and almost the only thing I use. There are tons of great sounds in there, and it’s easy to use as just a pedal platform or a full on amp sim.

It doesn't really do a lot of effects, but it does amp modeling with impulse responses. I bought it for practice, but usually I just use my amplug instead because its slightly less fuss. To my ears the NUX sounds pretty good and if I was in a situation of plugging directly into a PA I'd happily use it. If you already have a pedal board of effects you like and you just want something for recording or not having to carry an amp around it's well worth the $189 or whatever I paid for it IMO.

Nah, it's going for the 70's Ash Jazz Bass look. I do wish it had black binding on the neck, but the white matches what's on the headstock. But if the headstock was maple, they could have done black binding, but then the mother of pearl logo might not be visible enough.  Maybe I just need to get one custom made. And the parts box did contain a black poker chip. I do like the contrasting switch tip, so I can leave that be.

Took the kids to a Beatles tribute show this afternoon, not a costumes and vintage instruments thing just a really tight cover band. Their "John" was playing through a micced Katana 100, foot switch and everything. Sounded good!

oh monolithic guitar thread - I have come to you in my hour of need. I have a Squier Jazzmaster that I'm thinking of wrapping the bridge posts. I rest the edge of my picking hand on the bridge of any guitar I'm playing. On any other guitar it's fine, but on the Jazzmaster I find that it knocks my bridge out of alignment messing up the intonation and action. I'm not quite as concerned about adjusting the action every week or so back to where I like it or brushing some Loc-Tite on the screw posts, but having the angle of the bridge go forward and back is the thing that really annoys me as it takes me some time to get the bridge back to the position I intonated it in. I don't use the vibrato a ton but I do use it and would like to keep the option of using it open if I can. I've heard Sonic Youth would either wrap it in electrical tape or just buy a Mustang bridge. I've read other people (cough cough Michael Adams) recommend to buy the Mastery bridge but that's a little too much cash for what I'm willing to spend on this. I've also seen people wrap the bridge in aluminum foil. Anyone have any suggestions or tips for this, other than "Buy a Mastery"?

What's a good budget for an entry-level nylon string? I stopped by a nylon-specialist store in town today to chat and they were showing me a $100 bottom level guitar and a used solid-top for $200. Picked up a method book to flip through. Is it silly to learn fingerstyle on nylon strings if I just want to play arpeggios and chords and sing jazz standards to nobody? e: the solid top was an Aria I think. I know this is very little info to go off of
