No, most student loans are public money lent directly by the federal government. The student loan servicing companies can be lovely private companies, however. But it's not actually their money, they're just there on behalf of the feds to smash your knees etc.

I'm really curious how the whole pell grant forgiveness is supposed to work. Like I got pell grant during undergrad but not graduate school. Do you have to have received pell grants the whole time you were in school to get the $20k?

 Larry said they are grants not loans so they aren’t inflationary to forgive. But seriously this won’t be because they aren’t being paid on right now. This will be deflationary as some payments that aren’t being made are going to start back up.

And if we keep squeezing healthcare and don't find some cure for long COVID that population probably won't balance out until it's dying as fast as it's being made from new infections.
