Skwirl posted:I wasn't sure if that came out today or not, but I bet a bunch will get it in the next couple months. If I had a way to instantly check every single tattoo on earth I'd put money on there being at least one by tomorrow morning. The Image book is out today but it was on Chip's Substack several months in the past. There might be some Substackers with shark tatts out there already! There will be considerably fewer of these tattoos.

I was literally in the middle of following that follow up. I do like the font, but actually choosing that tattoo might send the wrong message.

I know five pages is excessive for this thread, but I tried working backwards from the end to find the point where the nonsense kicked in, and it felt like it was there from the start. Venus #6 (1949) Quasar #41 (1992)

So is "Anglo" a more common descriptor in the States or is this as clumsy as it looks?

The only time I've ever heard it in regular use is in reference to WASPs "White Anglo Saxon Protestants" which was a pretty common term in the 80s, but I've never heard a normal person use "anglo" by itself.

You hear it a lot more in the Southwest. Never heard it in Montana, and I'm pretty sure I haven't in Washington, even in the more migrant-worker-heavy area around Tri-Cities. Yakima might be different, though.

From the 1983 Marvel run of GI Joe where anything goes as long as they inserted the newest toys coming out. Ok, callback to earlier when one of the Joes said to another that the new guy's sister was hot. Here he says to the new guy. Ok. Haha, setup and spike. Right? No need to revisit the joke at the end of the arc, right? Right?

Sandman Presents: Lucifer #1 (1999) I love the line "you'd think part of omniscience would be knowing when to stop." I need to get into more theological debates, so I can use it. "Free will is an illusion because God knows what are you going to do. " "You'd think part of omniscience would be knowing when to stop. "
