I think the most noticeable thing about splatoon 3 compared to 2 is how much better it looks. Ninty is still getting a lot out of the hardware.

It's kinda chunky when you zoom in on stuff but they can really crank it up when they want to. The victory poses look particularly sharp.

Extremely hosed up that scissors lost. It was leading at halftime so I’m guessing the tricolor battles are what did it in.

Yeah it was an actual game mode that required the slightest form of strategy so of course the Turf War babies got stomped.

You had to control a capture point that only took 3 seconds to capture, and once you lost it once the game was just between rock and paper.
It makes sense if one team was way ahead as a way for one of the other teams to even the score but it was basically a three way tie at halftime.

Also this, all you had to do was play as four and guard the point since the scissor spawns were closer and had a straight shot to the point.
I switched from open to pro just because it was so miserable lol

Whoa, paper had less than half the population of the others and they still cleaned up in the pro games.

Yup! Cleaned up... after team rock's huge loads they roped all over you. Cope harder papercel.

Yeah, in every game I played at least half my team would just try to ink enemy territory instead of going for the capture point, so I don’t know if most people knew how to play. Maybe they should have had some kind of pop up tutorial that spelled the rules out so even the dumbest players could get it.

It wasn't that bad. I won a bunch of Tricolor even after giving up the sprinklers twice. It definitely sucks if you've got people on your team that don't understand it though. Just protect the center at all costs, and creep out and ink the side areas once the duos got wiped.

The written tutorial they gave was super confusing, and it took like 3-4 matches of getting completely stomped before I even registered what was happening.

Oh I should have stuck with it then, it didn't seem like there was any way to over power the sprinklers. I played like 10 games and the only won I saw was when we actually held it, so I was like okay I've seen enough lol

Same here lol. Hopefully the main game explains it better so everyone can be on the same page

It's a fun game, I love how crazy intense the last 20 seconds of every match feel. I did play for like 6 hours in handheld mode though, so now I have carpal tunnel.

Basically yeah which i'm fine with. There's a surprisingly detailed article on the site which breaks stuff down https://splatoon.nintendo.com/en/news/squid-research-lab-dives-deep-into-the-splatlands/

Quite a few adjustments to how rankings will work, seems a lot easier to party up with friends too. And 24/7 salmon run baby

Hmmm there's enough cool changes here that I'm getting somewhat hype. But it definitely feels like this could have been like a Season 2 style DLC revision. The ranked and salmon run and gear/grind changes are cool but like...are we gonna lose 2/3rds of the maps again until they patch them back in over the course of a year...

It launches with 12 so only losing half lol. That's a pretty good number though I think the first 2 games launched with 8 which felt slim
