On the one hand, I can confidently say that I wasn't taken in by the "fyad are nazis" bullshit on the other, it was very easy for me not to be taken in by that because I somehow had no idea it was happening at all. I pretty much just read Games through that whole period and I don't think I even noticed that FYAD was closed, let alone reopened
