I didnt remember Varys being a BF so I googled "Varys Blackfyre" and the first result was a wiki page about him with a bunch of poo poo that I don't remember from the books. It turns out that its a wiki for the GOT "Fanon" where I guess people have tried to finish the story for GRRM, lol

Varys and Littlefinger are characters where we don't know their full plans in the books, so the show made them increasingly dumb in the later seasons.

Just waiting for the books led to people theorycrafting, and the entire Blackfire plot kind of came out of that.

If he's changing accents for where he is to won people over...that's Littlefinger. It may be a happy accident, but it worked. D&D just didn't understand the whole thing was about scheming and behind the scenes machinations and didn't properly halde Littlefinger and Varys. They should have both been around towards the very end.

The only time Arya could hurt him was when he went down on his knees. His arc was all about weakening him for long enough that it’d happen with her in the room. Hire me, HBO.

He used like 5 different accents on Sansa alone. Gillen is a good actor but bad at accents, should've just let him use his normal voice.

I really don't have an eye for wigs at all... unless you can physically see the hair underneath or it looks like it's made of plastic I can't really tell a good one from a bad one. None of the ones in this show have struck me as particularly good or bad.

Same but I also have a nice habit of just fully immersing myself into movies/shows so it's hard for a lot of things to stick out to me. Didn't even notice the wings until this discussion. Hell I didn't even THINK they were wigs until now. I'm very easily entertained.

After the complaints about wigs in the first episode, I tried to pick them out in the 2nd and had a pretty hard time of it. Maybe if you're more familiar with costuming/work with hair a lot it's obvious, but I can only tell characters are wearing a wig if I'm actively staring at their hairline, and even then unreliably.

I actually liked the way the further North he went the fewer accomplices he had and the more isolated he looked. He extended his hand in order to gain more and simply went too far, tripped up, and was caught off guard with no escape route. then again, i also like slynt and ramsays death scenes so lol Dapper_Swindler fucked around with this message at 03:42 on Sep 4, 2022 |

Aiden Gillen, despite his accent work, made Littlefinger a compelling character despite the writing. I was interested in what he was doing until the poor writing caught up to him. I'm still amused that he told Ned to not trust him and lived up to it.

Even if you can divorce show Littlefinger from book Littlefinger, show Littlefinger still started the entire Game of Thrones because he was mad that he couldn't get mom Stark because he was too lowborn. So he accomplishes marrying her sister to take over her land and title and getting her daughter as a stand-in and...gives her to Ramsay for no reason whatsoever and then "rescues" her and tries to obviously turn her against her own sister for no reason at the time because...? The whole situation makes absolutely no sense because he just started doing stuff only to put himself in a no win situation that would get him killed once it left the books.

I grew up in a community where 70% of women were wearing wigs and weaves that were obviously not their hair to the point where it was just normal; I literally don't even notice anything different or wigs at all due to that conditioning.

I never noticed wigs until my mom, a professional hairdresser of 40 years, started pointing whenever an actor had a weird-looking or unrealistically low hairline. Now I can't stop seeing hairlines that start right above the eyebrows or when they've been sprayed in a straight line using one of those plastic spray masks. I don't find it as a point of critique or anything, but it's just something that wasn't on my radar until just recently.

Small Velaryon is the only one I noticed. You can see her real hair. Everyone else looked fine to me. Actually it's kinda cute that they look related to Emilia Clarke by having their otherworldly targ hair betrayed by dark eyebrows and beards. And hey to be fair, on the whole I rather like that they didn't force that little kid to spend twelve hours in makeup to give her authentic valyrian platinum.
