It uses some weird protocol and is quite finicky as a modem as well apparently. There's a very specific router compatibility (which is the same reason it doesn't play well with a pi-hole). All the routers that are compatible last I checked are also not the cheap and cheerful ones hence .

Don't worry about pi-holes if all you want is basic blocking of ads, tracking and phishing for devices on your home network. Somewhere in the chain of your modem/router/hub/whateveraccesspointyouuse DHCP server settings you'll find the primary and secondary DNS servers, pick any two of these four and you'll be laughing. 76.76.19.19 76.223.122.150 176.103.130.130 176.103.130.131 With this I don't even need adblock on my tablet, ads just don't show up. (There are other solutions for the special case of YouTube.)

I'm sure that the ethnic militia commander was also a problematic figure, but it's not the same as showing up during 2022 to pull the same thing. And it's not like the guy is now a genocide man, on account of him being dead for a few years, so it doesn't even hit the "in retrospect..." standards of I don't even really rate it on the same level as the McShitter above in terms of misguided stanning.

You mean... apart from the whole 'Lynch and Dempsey should run the country' thing that happened after they were on the television when the first wave of strikes kicked off? Stopped clocks, and all that. He's not wrong that the working class is getting utterly hosed. But shilling for a Moscow-backed warlord in 2015 suggests an eye-watering lack of judgment or awareness that surely makes one wonder what other blind spots he has, and then it turns out that one of his other blind spots is people of colour, at which point I struggle to see him as anything other than—as fuctifino put it—a oval office. And call me old-fashioned, but I don't think cunts should be in positions of power.

forkboy84 posted:IMO the Irish shouldn't have their own national team if they are under the purview of the British. Outrageous. I'm not so sure. Like okay let's assume you are a really lazy, hackish writer. You have an international tournament and are using it as an excuse of bringing people from around your fictional world into the story. So you have the team from Bulgaria show up and you decide to have a politician from Bulgaria travel with the team. Okay, it's not super original, but it makes sense. And you can use it later to tie into your overall narrative about how the political classes are blind to the threat of Voldermort. Then you introduce the Irish team...and you have them lead by an English politician. Like why? Why not just have an Irish wizard or something leading them? At best it's a baffling choice. At worst it's playing into that thing that The fact that Rowling later went onto campaign against Scottish Independence when combined with the passage from her book, says a lot about her thoughts on the UK's relationship with it's neighbours. I mean it's not the worst thing she has done. But it does bug me.

Jeherrin posted:You mean... apart from the whole 'Lynch and Dempsey should run the country' thing that happened after they were on the television when the first wave of strikes kicked off? I saw plenty of people praise Lynch's uncompromising interview style, and lots of back and forth on Dempsey's speech about how if communities feel they've been ignored they'll follow the first charismatic bigot to pay attention to them (is the speech racist, or is it just describing an unfortunate fact about how racists play people?) but not that they should be running the country. Even if so I don't think either has said anything exceptionally bad by the standards of the people who are currently running the country, but yeah giving two people we don't know much about the reigns of power based on a couple of strong speeches probably isn't the best idea, going by history. They're probably better as union leaders, until such a point that their members decide that they're not. The Question IRL posted:Like why? Why not just have an Irish wizard or something leading them?
