Not only does AWS, tiktok, etc actually do SOMETHING, it is also used by wayyyyyy more people than all the cryptocurrencies combined. Even in instances where a huge service uses more power than crypto, it’s gonna be far less power per user. Same as that “but all banking around the world combined uses more power than bitcoins!!” argument

Binance Coin, Polkadot and Cardano. Is there anything that's going to replace Ethereum as a source of income for GPU miners? All I can see is a few shitcoins that don't have nearly enough value to soak up all the miners need for revenue to pay for electricity.

Some miner will probably fork ethereum to keep it PoW and a small subset will go along with that, like happened with Bitcoin Cash. But that will hopefully/likely stay niche.
