What a horrible thread to have a post.

Manager Hoyden posted:

From what I understand, Immortality uses faces and pictures like the other Barlow games use words to associate clips. So you can highlight a face and see the other videos in which that face appears. The game has tits in it, and you can highlight the tits to see all the times those tits appear

This isn't quite true. You will get another scene that tits appear in. You don't get a tit catalogue or anything.

Also, it got recommended to me by a friend who knows my love of Vibe Games and this is a winner.

Backpack Hero entered Early Access August 22nd. It is a ridiculously adorable pixel-art turn-based roguelite. I love it because it is puzzle-based. You have an inventory grid that you fill with armor, weapons, potions, the usual, and items interact with each other depending on relative placement in the grid; all the reviews namecheck Resident Evil 4. As you level up, you add cells to the grid, as well as getting weapons you can choose from.

I'm having so much fun. There's a full demo, so it's easy to figure out if this is your game or not.

e: This has been a great summer for small-scale indie games, with Cult of the Lamb, Vampire Survivors, and this.

Spoilers for Immortality, please don't read unless you've played it a ton and/or seen the credits

I got the best possible version of this, I found a scene where a character was doing something and I was flicking back and forth in forward/reverse to try to get a clear view of a prop and the hidden scene "popped" and he was suddenly in frame with a character I had never seen before and the scene played out completely differently...it was at that moment that I realized that I was in a fuckin' SCP and it ruled!

I am honestly surprised by how hard the game went in terms of adult content, but I get why. But this is not a game you can play with kids in earshot.

Definite recommend.

Hey if there are any solitaire fans in here huge recommendation to this game: Solitaire Expeditions

I can't stop playing it, the dev is super responsive and adds variants if you ask for them, and I love the meta-game concept so there's a push to try new variants and find new card games to love.

The meta-game is that you make a roadtrip across the USA and play different card games at each state - winning gets you points so you can afford to play the easy games, and losing, well, you go back a state. So you figure out what you can win and enjoy and so on.

I also really like the global stats: you can see which games have been most/least played. Please pick it up and boggle with us at how someone has played THOUSANDS of hands of Canfield, more than literally any other game in the list, and is still playing it to this day.

e: I see this game was posted before. That's what I get for not looking at any games threads for several months, like some kind of plebeian. Well, the recommendation stands and it's still fairly new.

it's not not very performant (yet?) either, but I only tested it @max with UE4 RTX features which tend to be very bad. Doesn't really look that great either. With those options it had slight stutters which appear to affect other players too and was performing worse as Wreckfest does on my computer.
otherwise it feels a bit shallow in comparison. I dont mind the weird story (lot less terrible as Forza or Testdrive) with bad animations or the awful nu-metal OST but physics don't feel right for driving and collision. Not totally bad but not coherent enough. Maybe it gets tuned later, already got 2 hotfixes since I installed it earlier. Wreckfest driving sure feels better right now.

Looking forward to test the fun mode though, since that one is missing really a lot from Wreckfest. Spent hours playing curling and ring of fire in Flatout 2 hotseat.

heres a video from the first track and me not driving very good, there are several notable framedrops even after the intial stutterfest.

I put about 30 minutes into this last night and I love it. The dice rolling mechanic is really interesting and all your actions result in gaining Conditions that add modifiers to certain rolls one time. So you end up with interesting decisions like "I have Self-Actualized and Feeling Guilty conditions. The bonus of self-actualized might be cancelled out by feeling guilty if I try to talk my way past the bouncer, but it also might give me a huge boost and just damage me for two resolve points. Or I can try to use up those conditions on a less consequential action like searching a puddle. Whoops, I wasted self-actualized and got the Wet condition instead."

I don't know how long the game is but I died from losing all my resolve before I could even get inside the club.

It also has a super modular difficult so you can control if you get multiple re-rolls and how much starting money you get (money can be used to permanently boost stats).

The world is quirky and weird and I found myself laughing a lot. The graphics look like hot rear end but I think that's part of the charm weirdly enough. If you want to try out a strangely engaging TTRPG dice rolling gimmick (we haven't even talked about your Pizza Dice!), I think it's a perfect price

Anyone else dumb enough to buy this? Parts of it are still in Korean. One whole class is like that. Still fun deep down. Another game brought back from the dead by
HanbitSoft.

it appears to be the usual bad Hanbitsoft port and given their history with the other flagship game its questionable that they fix anything. No proper resolutions, half translated and very little effort put into to transit from MMO to singleplayer, like just leaving the chat window there. Mythos already wasn't that great when it came out, and I don't see any reason to waste time with a half assed port like this. Might as well play any other action RPG that came out since.

This one's fun, but evil. I definitely recommend it if you like tower defense games.

You get one card per wave which contains a single or double tile structure to place on the map. These tiles include towers, path pieces which allow you to extend the field of play, and flags which expand the island you're limited to. gold earned with each wave of defense can be spent to draw extra cards in a single turn, or buy specific tiles at periodic shop events.

Limited resources allow building outside the bounds of the isle or overlapping with other tiles, but they're rare and expensive, so the placement of the path and towers needs to be meticulously planned out while also leaving room for the likely possibility that you don't draw a path joint you need for an extended period of time. This is complicated by most useful tiles coming with adjoining useless water tiles that gum up your design.

It's extremely difficult, which is what most of the negative reviews complain about. I would describe it a bit like jumping into your first ever Slay the Spire match at ascension 15. Wave composition is highly varied and very likely to sporadically break through defenses that aren't very tightly planned, and on the only campaign mode available on a fresh save file, two brand new paths spawn in at specific waves to further complicate building. While it's definitely limiting to have your first six hours be spent with all the interesting main menu options locked while learning the very first game mode, I still find it fun, and I've found the complaints about RNG to be overblown. There's a significant amount of variance in layout and available towers in each run, but there's always been enough tools provided that I feel I would be able to win if I paid attention and put everything in the right place (so far, I have not)

I don't care if you're a star, the moon, or the whole damn sky, you need to come back down to earth and remember where you came from

I've been giving it a try as well, and I think i'm addicted to it. It gets a little frustrating with card pulls now and then because there isn't really a deckbuilding element to it, but the different archetypes encourage different playstyles in a very neat way.

Although i'm not sure if Cannoneer's guild is bugged because I didn't get any flags for them and ended up making some incredibly dense kill zones.

Also Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 came out but it has abysmal reviews so far, so I'm leaving it out.

This reminds me of pencil and paper rpgs my older brother used to draw for me on long car rides. I love it. It doesn’t look like it’s playable without knowing Japanese, though, judging from the video and only one short review being in English. Does anyone know otherwise?

I played a couple hours on switch and it's in English, but it is abysmally handholdy. Wright is constantly interrupting to explain where you are, what you're doing, your next objective, etc. after every time you complete a goal. I lost patience with it but it'll probably end up on the backlog rotation
