At this point it's clear that whatever units were in the first line of Russian defence in the area just absolutely shattered. I believe every single remaining supply line into Izyum has to cross one of a couple of bridges over the Oskil river.

I'm just waiting to see when Russian reinforcements start counterattacking and how effectively Ukraine is able to interdict them before they get there.

Russia has no reserves. They're going to have to make a Zalina's choice on what to sacrifice, here.

I'm still sort of expecting the Russians to throw whatever "we'll do anything except mobilize" barrel-scrapings they have on hand into the fight like the 3rd Army Corps they've been publicly forming.

What's hilarious is that the offensive was spearheaded by like 16 tanks, which is what, a single armor company?

But hey yeah sure, Russia can totally beat NATO.

no seriously, i was expecting like an armored brigade or two making this huge rout, but lmao if it was a single opportunistic company. Imagine how loving huge that company commander's balls must feel for kicking in the front door and having the Russian forces flee in terror.

The ERA actually is probably not an issue. Last time I checked cardboard or rubber stuffing after the valuable parts were stolen doesn't actually detonate with a lot of force.

the whole point of those BMPs are to provide infantry support to its own dismounted troops under contact. They just made a self-propelled claymore if it finds itself under machinegun/rocket fire

In modern Russia, BMPs are often deployed without infantry squads and are frequently undermanned and operated by barely trained or even untrained crew. They're being used as undergunned and under armored light tanks. There often isn't any infantry to put at risk with those ERA packs.

Watching on my phone but it looks like he may have just taken a few shots at them and the guys on the tank either got hit/pushed off/fell off or whatever from people reacting to taking rounds…looked like some puffs of smoke coming from his rifle.

Assuming that Ukrainian soldier was armed, the mounted soldiers likely panicked/got shot and bailed/fell off the tank at a high speed. That likely panicked the tank crew hence the tokyo drift attempt at the end.

50 cal is a suppression weapon because if you don't stay in cover its very accurate and will kill you. You don't suppress someone by just firing in their general direction

The best way to suppress someone is to cover them in the brain matter of the person next to them
