I’m doing my part to reduce power consumption by being in Italy for the next two weeks! You’re welcome.

Hey I'm living in Placerville it's fine. There's a huge river canyon that the fire totally can't cross unless it rains ash and cinders like it always does.

Kenning posted:Doing a welfare check on Larry. It's both higher elevation, more or less across a canyon, and not in the same direction as the wind usually blows. The grizzly flats fire last year was way closer, I was like 1 mile from the evacuation line, cuz it was basically a straight line following the terrain

Big chunks of ash coming down in Orange County right now. When the rain comes tomorrow and Saturday, how toxic is it going to be when it mixes with the smoke?

# ? Sep 9, 2022 00:50 |
I noticed some ash on my car just now in OC. Which fire is this? The one out near Big Bear?

I thought the fairview fire in hemet was kicking out a lot of smoke too, supposedly all the way to the coast

Skinnymansbeerbelly posted:Georgetown now under evac order I don't really have time to post a pic because I'm at work and can't get a good vantage anyway but that singular column from earlier is now about 4x as wide from the south, and the scattered haze of lower altitude smoke/ash is now covering about 50% of the sky instead of just a smear by the main column. I might not have a home town anymore lol.

oh cool the smoke column is concentrated enough that's it's turned into pyro cumulous clouds, which are basically dry thunderstorms. it's what made the Dixie fire so bad a while back. so we have that to look forward to.

500 AQI in Auburn, where my daughter has a soccer game tomorrow. Not far from the actual fire itself. And it still hasn't been canceled.
