Feels Villeneuve posted:when did they change from doing SC restarts to position order, rather than track order btw. that always leads to stupid poo poo and is much more complicated to pull off, and I don't really think it makes things that much more exciting ditch that rule and blue flags, make it an accomplishment and an advantage to put a car a lap down and between you and whoever's chasing? maximum comedy as backmarkers start deciding races (without crashing out) Kirios posted:I still love this stupid sport though, even if a frog is dominating it. gasly isn't dominating though??

Seems real simple that Ferrari hosed it by pitting early during the VSC from the lead

I love how the bar for Ferrari strategy is so low, that making a one-stop race a two-stop and throwing away the best tyre on lap 10 is now not considered a gently caress-up.

The broadcast said Leclercs first unnecessary stop was a 2.2. If that’s accurate that would likely be the fastest pit stop of the season. (There’s been a couple 2.29s) Ferrari is a land of contrasts. Edit: Never mind. I’m reading DHLs page wrong. Still fast though? Sudden Loud Noise fucked around with this message at 16:22 on Sep 11, 2022 |

Camera angles make current races more dull affairs. Give me more helicopter rotor noise, V10 engine roars and awesome handheld camerawork. Drones and cables keep thing stable but it lacks the ferocity of something like this from the 2005 Japanese GP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU82ky4hy-k Granted it's an all-timer race but still you see what we're missing.

2006 wasn't that bad, Alonso/Schumacher was a compelling old guard/new guard battle though the on-track product wasn't great. 2005 did have the Japanese GP which was a classic, but yeah, the on-track racing back then was totally sidelined mostly even if there were some exciting title fights
