What did you say the strategy was?

Feels Villeneuve posted:

when did they change from doing SC restarts to position order, rather than track order btw. that always leads to stupid poo poo and is much more complicated to pull off, and I don't really think it makes things that much more exciting

ditch that rule and blue flags, make it an accomplishment and an advantage to put a car a lap down and between you and whoever's chasing?

maximum comedy as backmarkers start deciding races (without crashing out)

I know you know how to do this.
Get up.

Seems real simple that Ferrari hosed it by pitting early during the VSC from the lead

I mean safety cars are fundamentally unfair to leading cars anyway so it's not about an advantage its just about restarting as easily as possible

It wouldn’t have made a difference, it was a good gamble that didn’t work out.

I love how the bar for Ferrari strategy is so low, that making a one-stop race a two-stop and throwing away the best tyre on lap 10 is now not considered a gently caress-up.

Holy poo poo that’s hilarious. I’m sure what I’m imagining is way funnier, but I still need to go back and watch the non-event.

The broadcast said Leclercs first unnecessary stop was a 2.2. If that’s accurate that would likely be the fastest pit stop of the season. (There’s been a couple 2.29s)

Ferrari is a land of contrasts.

Edit: Never mind. I’m reading DHLs page wrong. Still fast though?

if they want quick restarts just restart the cars in track order. red flagging is for Amerikkkans

Don't disagree, but safety car is like 2 laps collecting the pack, 1-3 laps removing car/debris etc, so even if you skip "unlap cars" it isn't exactly quick

Both have a 12 as their best position, so latifi's second best (14) is better than hulks (17).

In 2-3 races depending on where Charles finishes, assuming a Max win.
After this weekend, any DNF from leclerc gives him the title, assuming Max gets a win.

Camera angles make current races more dull affairs. Give me more helicopter rotor noise, V10 engine roars and awesome handheld camerawork. Drones and cables keep thing stable but it lacks the ferocity of something like this from the 2005 Japanese GP:

Granted it's an all-timer race but still you see what we're missing.

2006 wasn't that bad, Alonso/Schumacher was a compelling old guard/new guard battle though the on-track product wasn't great.

2005 did have the Japanese GP which was a classic, but yeah, the on-track racing back then was totally sidelined mostly even if there were some exciting title fights
