Like Vettel, he has a past and status which ensures that it doesn't humiliate Lance too much when he gets beaten, Stroll Sr can turn around and say "he's a multiple WDC, what do you expect?". You'll never see some hot new F2 graduate in the other seat for that reason, people would start asking too many awkward questions.

Let's just hope Xi doesn't try to invade Taiwan or Zhou might get Mazepin'd. That being said, Zhou isn't unlikeable so I'm sure he could/would adopt another country if he was given that as the only option to continue his F1 career. It's a weird scenario to think about, but I guess anything is possible nowadays. I'm really rooting for him to not be cursed with reliability issues next year.
