The Nebraska thing is a bit of an anomaly to me. They are willing to spend money but it’s also been forever since they were good enough to be a true national name. Championships before recruits were alive don’t really help and they couldn’t even point to any improvement to try to bring in change making players. Either they are stuck taking a swing on a G5 (which clearly didn’t work out well last time) or super pay for a P5 dude who knows that he is on the block from day one. I don’t know what the right move is. The list of names is humorous and I doubt a single guy on that list takes the job.

Just...everything after that was a mistake. I guess it's not my money but even the timing of firing him was a mistake, like either you're willing to eat all of that buyout money and should have moved after last season or you might as well wait a couple of weeks.

The loudest, most obnoxious part of our fanbase still has these expectations. Frost was given a long leash and I am confident the next coach will be, too. If Nebraska can claw its way back to the 9-10 win area (big if), that's when more of the fanbase becomes insufferable. Right now the worst Nebraska fans aren't even watching. I think Nebraska can be a developmental team whose recruiting gives them a moderate chance of winning their division semi-regularly. Without getting that far, there's no way they'll get farther, if it's possible at all.

I know a lot of fans usually say “good riddance “ once their coach dips out and I wasn’t super tuned into UCF stuff, but on the surface this seemed about as slam dunk of a hire as possible. I’m sure there were problems at UCF that obviously got much bigger, but this seemed about as sure of a thing for Nebraska as possible.

The aliens did not come in peace. Every major city is a smoking ruin. The governments of the world, if they still exist, are in shambles. Kirk Ferentz inserts what is probably the last piece of gum in the world into his mouth, and chews it as he climbs onto the back of a Humvee. He takes the microphone as he he looks out at the haggard pilots before they strap into their planes. "All right," he says. "Let's send in the punt team." ID4 fanfare swells.
