Made progress in Ruina, finally. Made Red phase 1 tolerable by using Gebura's infinity die to get rid of the wolf's counter dice and boosting Red's strength with her mass attack. Came close to freeing a librarian in phase 2, but didn't quite manage it. Lost Gebura during phase 3, so I had no real chance during phase 4. I used Red Mist's page on Gebura, with an Allen and three Emmas, stacked with power passives for their type of damage and as many hauler passives as I could get. Thinking maybe I need to turn one Emma into a pierce specialist to help out with phase 4?

If the LP thread doesn't make Teequeue do this fight as soon as possible I'll never forgive them.

There are three possible ways I realistically see SotC going, and one of them is beelining me right into TRM at the very start of it, then forcing me into Geb Realization asap by doing the rest of the setup for Tiph's and then hers.

Frankly, I welcome it. :unsmigghh:

I'm definitely not going to vote for that route. My voting plan for SOTC is basically going to be "Get King of Greed and Netzach's Realization out of the way early on, do Part 1 of Thumb or Liu S. 2 to quickly unlock Hokma so Roland can do Snow Queen, go through Tier One while idly knocking out every Abno as we go (Mountain of Smiling Bodies, Road Home + Scaredy Cat, Big Bird and Burrowing Heaven), then knock out R Corp 1 before Red Mist, then Liu S. 1 for Tiph Realization, then Gebura, then hopefully do Index Proxies for Chesed Realization (Price of Silence + Blue Star and Punishing Bird + Judgement Bird could also get done at this point but I'm not picky)" and after that point I'm fine with whatever order the last tier of SOTC is done.

I'm still not sure if people in the thread will feel pity for Phillip after this event or not. Pluto getting revealed as Yesterday's Promise will freak them out, though.

More progress. Freed the librarian from Cobalt Scar, but then Gebura got staggered and lost the effect of unlocked Red Mist against Smile. Then I got Gebura killed against Dipsia by having her clash against him right at the start of the phase. I got to phase 3 Mimicry, but without Gebura I had no chance of getting through its defenses. Aside from Gebura misplays, my problem was that the assistant librarians didn't have enough light restore. Maybe I can tweak their poo poo and switch out one of their expensive cards with another cheap light restore, but I get the feeling that the best they can do at the end is chump clash to free up Gebura for one-sided attacks.

Edit: Done. Gebura's realization really does hinge on whether or not you know how to use the Red Mist keypage properly. Non-Gebura combatants were able to get some hits in on fully evolved Mimicry, so I guess Smoke does work if you stack it high enough. Guess I'll see if I can handle the Price of Silence fight soon.

Assuming you pull a roughly equal amount of Identities for all 12 characters and no synergy is stronger than any other (aka, it's literally just up to personal taste), which 5-Sinner team do you think you're going to rock in Limbus Company?

Right now, my team is something like Outis/Don/Gregor/Meursault/Hong Lu, but I'm open to being surprised and every Sinner intrigues me at least a little in some way or another.

Ah, my least favorite abnormality fight, huh? It's not even that bad ( if you know how to build for it ) - but it simply isn't fun. iirc I cheated my rear end off to get through this (via mods) my first playthrough. Unfortunately I don't actually remember how to build for it so I can't give you any tips. "press p" is funny, but given the fact it gives all librarians a 0-cost page with a downside in their hand and not the extra deck for some reason it never really worked out for me.

also as a side note about red mist deckbuilding: I liked to run 1x Focus Spirit (replacing one of the steel knuckles). Leading block die can be useful for geb and its a non-trivial amount of power gain.

as a final note: guns are the most powerful force in the universe. If you're having trouble with a fight, try shooting them to death. this is not a joke. (more specifically, full stop passives with thumb pages for melee+ranged and spamming as many good dice as you can.)

Press P is only the first step, the second step is quickly going through your actions to pick out the trap cards and, if you have the time, replace them.

For that particular realization, I recommend against my initial strategy, which was to do really well without using the special page, then play it for fun when I was nearly done, then remember that one of my librarians was running Yujin. That did not go well.

Here's what I had:

Gebura had The Red Mist's Page with Grace of the Prescript, Health Hauler and Mind Hauler. 3x Upstanding Slash, 3x Spear, 2x Level Slash, 1x Focus Spirit.
Gabriel Marquez had Allen's Page with Wedge, Remain Vigilant in Peace, Firm as a Great Mountain and Piercer. Frontal Assault, Wedging Thorn, Extract Fuel, Dagger Press, Shoving Stab, Gale Kick, Will of the Prescript, Sturdy Defense, Stiletto.
Marcel Proust, Orhan Pamuk and Miguel Cervantes all had Emma's Page with Puppet Skeleton, Health Hauler, Mind Hauler, Internal Combustion Engine and Puffy Brume. Puppet Blockade, Gigigig, Inhale Smoke, Steel Knuckles, Smoke Prick, Repressed Flesh, Forceful Gesture, Deep Drag, Loss of Senses.
I'm gonna try bringing the latter four key pages to Price of Silence and see how that works out. Not sure how to handle remnants with bonuses to clashes, since if I'm unlucky I'll have to clash at least once with them anyway, but I figure if I tag them with Deep Drag as soon as possible I've got it in the bag anyway.

You shouldn't bother with Upstanding Slash. Drop it from Geb's kit and replace it with Steel Knuckles, which is also a 2-hit 2-cost blunt card that draws a card but most importantly has an all-important 2-6 counter die at the end. Gebura seriously appreciates having two-three copies of it in her deck because of Role of the Wolf buffing her counters.

I was just about to link that, lol, thanks for taking care of that.

I do have something else to note about Dante though that I just found out. So here's his time rewind line, in Japanese:

Translation: <And every time one of you dies, I will have to turn back the clock again and again.>

One thing to note immediately just from the line itself: Dante's using "omaetachi", the rude plural version of "you" in Japanese. Clock man's annoyed as hell.

Two other things are also noticable when you compare it to Sinclair and Faust's lines:

1. Above Sinclair and Faust's personal names is the words printed on their weapons, "Vogel" and "Walpurgisnacht". We'd seen this before on the website, Heathcliff had a cut-off line on that shot of a Smoke War battlefield with "Revenge" above his name, and Outis had the same in a shot of her talking to Gregor (it was just her name but put in the Greek alphabet, though). Dante did have an Italian one of those in his initial art-"Durante", meaning "during", but in his dialogue, he doesn't have it here.

2. Dante has <these> around his dialogue, and Sinclair and Faust do not. I'm not sure if that means this is his internal monologue, or because he lacks a mouth he talks via telepathy, or if it's something else.

Some person on Twitter got to play through it, gave their impressions of the cast/characters from the story you get before/after/between fights:

https://twitter.com/heathLament/status/1570660462001557507?s=20&t=ryWuaICeFSsZQLfE52bLjA

Thanks to "prixt" from a Project Moon discord I'm in for providing translations for this whole chain. I cleaned up some jank wording/minor typos but nothing more.

quote:

-EGO effects are great and much more detailed in person.
-Smartphone was the size of my hand, but the controls were surprisingly decent.
-Cut-in length was just enough to maintain combat pace.
-Each normal and Abnormality battle is followed by story, and the normal battle leads to the abnormality battle.
- Yi Sang really talks that weirdly.
- Only the sinners can be resurrected by rewinding, Dante does the rewinding.
- Faust kind of has an expository role, she has a different 'mood' from the rest of the Sinners.
- Two new faces, one of them makes an early exit.
- Rodion teases Gregor with dead bugs.
- Outis is a grade-A asskisser. Whenever Dante says anything she praises him for 'his leadership' etc.
- Outis naturally issues orders and commands...
- 'This is Singularity level stuff. What Wing is behind this?' is said.
- Yi Sang addresses Faust as 'Lady(嬢) Faust'
- Dante is employed to rewind the Sinners with his clock.
- Faust appears to be closely connected to the group's employer.
- Sinners' personal time is manipulated to resurrect them.
- Ishmael seems to be a polite talking character.
- Faust also seems to be polite.
- During an Abnormality check/test, when Sinclair (High Chance) was picked he said '...yes, I'll try', after succeeding he said 'I, I did it... but I don't know if I can do it again.'

More info coming in from various quick translations-it appears that, while the Sinners can understand Dante perfectly fine, non-Sinners (there are three side characters in this scenario named Yuri, Aya and Hopkins, all Grade 8 Fixers) perceive his dialogue as just him making ticking sounds.

Pluto is interesting in that while he's totally doable by engaging with his mechanics, it feels totally on par with his story to instead cheese him to death with loopholes.

On the Limbus Company side of things, from what little I've gathered from people who have played previous gachas, the thing about anti-hoarding is that it (supposedly) serves as an "anti-whaling" mechanic since it disincentives players from spending a ton of money to accumulate a bunch of dupe shards all at once since, you know, you lose all of said shards once the season rolls over.

Personally speaking, I'm not sure if that's what happens in practice but I've been taking the wait-and-see approach to all of the gacha aspects of Limbus before I solidify any opinion on that aspect.

From what it looks like, on release Limbus Company will probably have at least three chapters given that apparently the demo showcased a screen that teased the three story dungeons and their chapters. Apparently the chapter names were roughly translated to "Nightmare", "Sin" (or alternatively, "Crime"), and "Incubation".

First story dungeon is Smoke War themed, which is unsurprising given what we have seen from the teasers so far. Second story dungeon is that one frozen cathedral that was briefly shown in the first promo video and the third story dungeon looks like a pink mountain of bodies (also briefly shown in the first promo video iirc). Furthermore, there was some speculation that each of the story dungeons is related with a specific Sinner, and the order of the story dungeons would be the order in which the Sinners were first announced. This is mostly conjecture at this point, but the idea stems from the fact that Gregor and Rodya were the first and second Sinners to be announced. Gregor and the Smoke War dungeon is pretty self-explanatory at this point. Rodya had an ice motif going on in her promo vid and her source material Crime and Punishment apparently features heavy emphasis on religion also which ties into the "frozen cathedral" motif going on in the second dungeon.

Following that theory, the third dungeon (pink mountain) would be related to... Sinclair. While I don't see any connection with the dungeon itself with Sinclair and his source material, the chapter name, "Incubation", does relate to Sinclair's icon of an egg.

If the theory is true, then we would be seeing twelve (maybe 13 if Dante gets in the action) main story dungeons in the order of:

Gregor-Rodya-Sinclair-Yi Sang-Ishmael-Heathcliff-Don Quixote-Hong Lu-Ryoshu-Meursault-Outis-Faust

That order seems pretty reasonable story-wise, Outis and Faust seem to be pretty significant to Limbus Company in some way, with Outis' profile being super sus and Faust being the creator of the bus's engine. Also makes sense that the people who both have more obvious flaws and struggle with said flaws to go through their realization-like events first (Gregor, Rodya, and Sinclair).

Only weird thing about this order would be the fact that Yi Sang, who seems both relatively (emphasis on relatively) well-adjusted and significant to the backstory of Limbus (He's the one behind the Identity mechanic if Leviathan is any indication) has his dungeon up so early.

EDIT:I don't have 100% confirmation, but supposedly Dante can only be understood by the Sinners (Possibly due to their connection to him since he's the one reviving them). Everyone else who hears Dante talk only hears clock noises. That might be the explanation for the <> brackets between his dialogue.

I can't read, Junpei already mentioned the text that I had struck-through.

Fun fact: since warp team passives (ex reaction force) do untyped damage, it's possible to use them to defeat gun-immune enemies by shooting them with guns and having it proc.

So I'm trying to pick the game back up after stopping on urban plague due to getting stomped by the later stages. What should I be shooting for when it comes to a load out?

At late Urban Plague, you'll probably want to start including a handful of light regen and page draw cards into your decks. Clean Up from Kurokumo is probably your best option for light regen at this point.

If you're talking specific builds, you have plenty of paralysis cards assuming you've cleared Gaze Office. Said paralysis cards synergize pretty well with the Workshop cards (A lot of Pierce dice on the Gaze cards and Workshop comes with the Mend Weapon card which boosts Pierce power) that you get from one of the Urban Plague general receptions, so look into that. If you've managed to complete Wedge Office (Node after Dawn Office), you'll have a healthy supply of Pierce +1 power key pages that you can passive attribute for greater consistency.

On the Slash side of things, you've got plenty of bleed stuff with Kurokumo and Rusted Chains (Another general reception). Since Clean Up also inflicts bleed, stacking a bunch of slash-bleed cards on multiple librarians and going ham on Hod's floor is definitely a possibility. Hod's floor is also great for playing defensively, so consider using Walter with a bunch of block dice on Hod's floor also if you're so inclined.

Though I've rarely done it myself, a Full-Stop building stacking multiple Full-Stop passives on multiple Librarians is a very popular build for quickly gunning down enemies on turn 1, though this has the side effect of not netting you as many pages.

Finally, though the big Blunt stuff isn't here yet, running a supportive Blunt build using Bremen pages (Red Notes, Tendon Chords, and Unforgettable Melody) can work pretty well on Yesod's floor. Loosen Up might be better than Clean Up as a light regen card in this case if you want to go all in on Blunt.

My biggest recommendation is to look at your floors and their Abno pages, and build your decks around those. That, and exploit the passive attribution system for all that its worth. Brotherhood of Iron pages contains one of the most economical passives in the game in the form of Electric Shock, which inflicts Paralysis at a 25% chance with every hit. Paralysis is in general more accessible than power-stacking in Urban Plague, just something to consider.

So roughly speaking deck-wise, you'll probably be aiming for:
- At least 2 light regen cards
- One to two page draw cards
- One (maybe two) three-cost cards
- A mix of two-cost and one-cost cards to fill out the rest

With an emphasis of the latter two categories (and also the earlier two categories if possible) generally being centered around some sort of theme (Paralysis, Bleed, Sustain, Abno card, etc.)
