Unless there's something changed in the upcoming battletome there's no battleline without a unit of spears to unlock it.

radlum posted:Is the Lumineth half a good starting point for a Lumineth army? You would have to pick up a unit or two more potentially, depending on the changes, if any, in the upcoming book. That being said for 157 you are doing pretty good model count wise for the price, not including the books and whatnot. MSRP for the Lumineth units is 185, not including the special character, so making a conservative estimate you get about 200 MSRP of lumineth in the box. It would be about 65 bucks to get the spearmen, and at that point things are looking pretty decent for the force composition. Also, all these battle boxes come with scenarios and whatnot so if you have someone to play with you can do the scenarios in the book with the forces in the box.

If Lumineth is not your cup of tea this ebay seller has Warcry: Heart of Ghur for 175, which is really good. It is making me consider cancelling my pre-order with miniature market, as they still have not shipped it yet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1446672142...epid=2326423072

Maybe some update? but there's still other models that could be remade in plastic like the butcher or slaughtermaster.

Yeah having a lot of their key characters in finecast still is inexcusable, but honestly their entire battleline needs a refresh too. The new hunter sculpt looks amazing but it's so wildly different from every other Ogor sculpt that it doesn't even look like it's a part of the same faction. The Beastclaw kits still look very good but are hampered by having zero options for posing or even head swaps, and since Thundertusks are complete garbage every army is just 4 xeroxed Stonehorns.

That new warcom preview image still has the finecast Butcher and slaughtermaster, along with all the 17 year old plastics. So I don't have high hopes!

Having had to google what "puissant" means, I hereby vote that WarCom should never use the word puissant again because it's a dumb word. No strong feelings about the new lumineth stuff either way.

I don’t play AoS but like looking at the cool models. I sort of follow this thread. Having said this am I wrong in that the the High Elves or whatever they are called are getting a third book in as many years? What the hell?

Having said this am I wrong in that the the High Elves or whatever they are called are getting a third book in as many years? What the hell? Covid split the initial release in two, and thus they released two books. One with the first half in 2020, the second with Broken Realms: Teclis in 2021, and then also released the complete battletome at the same time as the Broken Realms book. Then they did 3rd edition and decided that I guess Lumineth should get a fairly early battletome release. But yeah, it's pretty wild. Definitely like the buff for the Stoneguard, they need it.

Still I hope it stays extremely limited if only so Wards dont suffer the same fate as Invul saves in 40k. As far as Lumineth getting another book goes, the old one was such an insane rube goldberg machine that required a lot of bookkeeping and generated some serious NPEs for their opponents. If anything we should be glad they're getting a book this soon considering how awful it is to play against them right now.

I mean GW has said its a full range refresh and this is exactly how they displayed the Khorne Berzerker weapons for World Eaters before showing off a brand new kit for them. There is zero reason to think this is an upgrade kit.

Have they actually said it's a full refresh? Because that means they are probably going to be dumpstering basically the entire preexisting roster. No way they'll be refreshing that entire menagerie of WFB refugees.

All the teases for Cities of Sigmar look great. My personal hope is that the cosmopolitan feel of Cities also sticks around. I love the idea of having a group of human soldiers forming the main brick, an elf mage and a few specialists in support, with a artillery section manned by dwarven engineers. There is a lot of neat city lore and personality you can create for yourself. It is one of the aspects of AoS that I really like. You can carve out some really unique armies without running afoul of the world's lore.
