The way I see it, they’re a minor player right now, so I don’t care if they buy WBD because the number of major producers will not change.

No company should buy WBD because mergers just ends up with fewer shows and worse quality and service overall.

I noticed that but I also just watched the Sandman show which was way better than I expected and that was a David S Goyer joint so I guess anything goes.

The Miller thing has somehow gotten worse. Apparently they have a bizarre altar in their home that people are expected to make offerings to, and one of the objects of worship on the altar are Flash figures.

The whole Vanity Fair article is bonkers and sad, but this part was kind of hilarious:

Miller has a meeting with WB/D executives, finally admits they need mental health help, go to meet with the therapist, but brings a gun and ends up escorted out of the building.

WB/D said they had no comment about that and when asked what steps were being taken to protect their staff and others, they said they directed Miller to a Crisis PR agency.

Edit: Also, Miller apparently has ANOTHER restraining order against them for their contact with a different 12-year old.

Miller's agent sounds like a dick when describing this:

quote:

The actor’s rep dismisses the allegation, saying, “Ezra’s lack of interest clearly upset a disappointed fan when they would not engage with the fan or her daughter.” The local police department confirmed it has an active case involving Miller and the 12-year-old based on three interactions the child had with the actor, in April, May, and June of this year.

And that incident where Miller was arrested at their mom's house for burglary is actually weirder than initially thought. They were arrested at their mom's house, but the house they actually broke into was a "friend" that they "did not realize did not want to be friends anymore."

quote:

(Miller’s representative says the actor was cooking with their mother, needed rice wine, and grabbed that and another bottle of wine from the home of a close childhood friend. The rep says Miller did not realize that the friend didn’t want to be friends anymore.)

The article also says they specifically aren't going to do that and are still currently performing reshoots.

Most of the details in the article happened before last month when Miller (or whoever wrote it for them) put out that statement and WBD thinks they are fine as long as Miller stays out of new trouble.

Without wishing to give Miller a pass or the benefit of the doubt in any way, are all the allegations as bad as they sound on the surface? I don't follow celeb gossip so I just hear the latest on what they have done now through forums etc and then when I look past the headlines it's sometimes not as dramatic as it first sounded. Like, I hear they got arrested for felony burglary, and then it seems to have just been for breaking into a house to get a bottle of booze. Which is still weird AF on a bunch of levels but not exactly top ten FBI most wanted stuff. The worst headline was about a kid being held(?) in a house full of guns, but then a photo of the guns showed it mostly stuff like antique flintlocks or something, the kind of weapons we mock the cops for when they post one of their "look what we took off the streets" tweets.

Judging by this thread alone they're clearly way over the line and need to go, but for someone not keeping up with it all (and I'm at least internet savvy and therefore gossip-adjacent at least) it's honestly really hard to get a clear picture of what is going on. Maybe that's what WB is banking on, because outside of the circle of people who are paying attention it's just a confusing thing happening as part of the background noise of life. Usually there's a clearer "X has done Y" story but Miller's built up a collection of mostly very loving weird behaviour that is hard to parse for anyone out of the loop.

I feel like I need a non-clickbaity tl;dr of what the gently caress they've actually done with all the hyperbole stripped out. (I'm in the "they're bad" camp, I guess I just want to know how bad. Google isn't exactly helpful in this case because between the clickbait and the weird celeb stans it's so loving hard to get any kind of objective account of things.)

I mean, I don't think anyone here is personally involved so I don't know how we're supposed to know if they're as bad as they seem?

If you want to judge for yourself I'd say just take a minute and read that VF article posted up thread. It's a bit of a read but it's got all the "worse" stuff and you can decide how bad that is for you on a personal level.

As soon as someone starts referring to themselves as Jesus and The Devil and building altars to figurines of a character they played in the movies, that's when you know there's always more poo poo out there and it's always gonna be worse. Much worse.

Yeah just read this article: . https://www.businessinsider.com/ezra-miller-flash-running-a-cult-grooming-minors-carrying-guns-2022-8. It soundly counters the point about "flintlocks" (there's a pic of a handgun that Ezra pulls out of nowwhere) to testimonials from women victims from Iceland to Germany, it def makes it apparent Ezra has hurt some ppl. Plz read that before posting about how this isn't so bad.

A speedster is never going to work in a live action movie as anything other than a supporting character. I think it's impossible to do, the same way I don't think they ever could make a compelling Hulk solo movie. Some superheroes are good at rounding out a universe but are just uncompelling when pushed front and centre.

Yeah, I know the counterpoint is decades of solo Flash/Hulk comic books, but I could never get into reading those either.

Pushing all their chips in for a Batman or Superman who went rogue would at least make sense, but for The Flash?

Having watched a youtube on this a while back, I think the issue is with how the super-speed is depicted. Speedsters break movies when superspeed is shown as them essentially going to a parallel dimension where everyone else is frozen in time, which means that they can't meaningfully interact with the other characters or fight convincingly against enemies others fight. But they can work in stuff like The Incredibles where superspeed is just... they run really fast, but they have to consider reaction time, momentum, fatigue etc.
